Is there any point to prepare for it?

It has no effect on your ENTER (unless you request for it to) so may as well just wing it

Not really.  If it's your first GAT and you're really curious, you could take a look at last year's.  It's a very random "exam" and you can't really prepare for it.  I certainly didn't do any preparation except for the compulsory practice GAT that the school made everyone do.

I'm not sure but I did it twice and I got very varied results.  The first time, my writing was waaaay below average and my maths was awesome but the second time round, my writing and maths were average, while the humanities part dominated.  Only 1 year difference between the two attempts and yet such a large discrepancy between results.

I think the only preparation you can do is if its your first time, do a practise one, or skim through it, other than that a good night sleep and make sure you have a decent breakfast.

Yeah like Gloamglozer has said, our school made us do a practice GAT a couple of weeks ago, but it was only the multiple choice. I'm just wondering even if I do bad will it have any effect on anything (study score, ATAR etc.) unless I apply for it?

Our school made us do two practice GATs. And for the second one, they wouldn't let us leave until the end of three hours.

We need to write 2 pieces, but many words should each 1 be? On the past GATs, VCAA suggests the students to allocate 30 minutes for each piece...

And also, when can we leave?
It's all over now..

haha im wondering that too! Though im guessing it should be 1 to 1 and a half pages.
And do we have to include all the information provided? E.g. Include all the bee information provided in the written task about bees for the 09 paper? Or can we just include the majority of it, leaving out minor details, etc...
