Yes, you can do that. People do that all the time. According to Stalkerspace, that's a common one and typically well rated, but haven't done it myself

Thank you!

Quick question. Unfortunately, I failed a unit in semester one. Instead of extending my degree by a semester (which I really don’t want to do for a variety of reasons), am I able to take a summer unit, such as ATS2946 (Critical thinking: How to analyse arguments and improve your reasoning skills)? The unit I failed was just an arts elective, and wasn’t leading to a minor or major, so I’m not fussy about which unit replaces the one I failed. Does anybody have experience with summer units, or ATS2946 in particular? Thank you!

Probably won't regret taking the unit. If you keep up with the work and make sure not to make any simple mistakes (marking is not strict but very clear about what you need), it might benefit your WAM too.

I did it back in 2018 when Sam Butchart and Oisin Deery (both very helpful and kind) were running the unit, however, seems like they've handed the reigns off to other people going from 2019 into 2020. It likely hasn't changed much though.

Am I right in thinking unit guides are no longer a thing?

Prospective students don't get information from the unit guides anyway, only current students do. You would use the courses website info and for picking units inside your course the handbook information (which you would usually use).

OK, thanks. See, I've only heard things secondhand from uni-goers. :)

Email's just come through with updates about stage 4 lockdown. @insanipi I'd presume you'd be able to get an exemption for honours laboratory study only, otherwise it seems like everything else has to be done online

Been waiting all week to be told if I get an exemption- have heard nothing so far 😂

I suspect I won't be exempt though because they kicked us out last time :/ if I do get shut down, I'd be praying for an extension because it'll be the 6 weeks + 3 weeks to get started again and I simply don't have time for that 🙈

2:20PM update: it sounds like my cohort might be okay to go for labs still.

Hey guys I'm kinda desperate for a response since SFR applications are closing soon. If I SFR both sem 1 and 2 how would my course transfer application be processed? Thanks.

I don't know for sure however I believe that they would still have access to your grades anyway. Again, I don't know this for a fact or whether they'd use that access.

Hi!

I'm a QLD year 12 student wanting to study medicine at Uni and I'm thinking to do an application for VTAC. I'm aiming to apply for the medical program at Monash and so far my first three preferences are all at Monash. However, I'm concerned about the possibility of moving to Melbourne next year due to the COVID-19 situation in Victoria. Is it still worth me trying to keep my options open by applying interstate (as well as applying in QLD through QTAC) and paying another admission centre application fee when I'm a bit scared of the prospect of going to Melbourne (if in the event I am lucky enough to receive an offer)?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Are your concerns related to the current second wave in Victoria? Or are your concerns more general, about moving interstate etc?

Monash seem to have remembered Parkville exists; we just received some new signage (including a giant sign to replace the already big sign idk why but okay 😂) and building names on doors. Kinda starting to feel like a mini-Clayton now 😅

For anyone finishing their course this year, the 'in-person celebration' in 2021 mentioned in the graduation email for those who choose to confer in January does not involve gown hire according to Monash Connect.

Figured taking some pictures in the official graduation gowns might be important for some people! (at this rate I would have graduated twice and not even worn it haha)
