Taking German in UoM

Hello there!

I am a first year biomedicine student and I am considering the option of taking German 1 through 6, using 6 of my breadth slots.
I am very curious to know which level (A1, A2, B1, etc) each UoM German subject corresponds to.
I am planning to do German as I see it as a potentially satifying mental challenge, but I am unsure whether it will help my employment.
Also, for those who undertook a language as part of their bomedicine degree, how did you find the workload, and do you have any advice?

Otherwise, I am planning to fill my breadths with other subjects and take German externally.

Hi cyckyt!

From what I've experienced so far, I think you can (roughly) equate the numbers and levels as such:

German 1/2 = A1
German 3/4 = A2
German 5/6 = B1
German 7-10 = B2, C1, C2

German is taught very well at Unimelb. All of the tutors are extremely charismatic, and run genuinely enjoyable classes! All the best with your decision :)

Thanks for the information clarke54321!
I guess I will take the next two days to ponder my decision before the timetables reopen.
