Extension ATAR increment

Hey all,
It is my understanding that the AVERAGE mark of both semesters will be used in calculation of the ATAR increment. For example 89 HD + 77 D = 83 average therefore will receive 4.5 increment.  It does not require both semester to be over 80 for the 4.5 increment as long as the combined average is 80+ is that correct? Thanks all

Average score needs to be 80 or over to get a 4.5. It doesn't require two scores over 80.
e.g A total of 160-179 would get an average of 80-89.5 which is a 4.5 increment.

Is the average they take into account the WAM (weighted average mark) or just the average of the two semesters?

I'd imagine the WAM and the average would be the same thing, on the assumption that both semesters were first year units (I'm not 100% how extension subjects work)?

One of my subjects is a second year one, which makes my WAM lower :(

The WAM is usually the average for considering only first year units. Mellyboo's post shows it well.
I believe they actually use WAM but just in the case of first year units it appears as the average. Who knows though! You'll find out soon enough !
Good luck  :)
