I went pretty well to be honest, my results were very surprising to say the least. I probably spent anywhere from 4-8 hours studying for Biology per week. The labs aren't marked harshly, they pretty much spell out what they want from you (like all other units I am taking) so it's in your hands whether or not you get 20/20 per week. You just have to be careful with addressing key points and writing Biologically accurate statement. The exam isn't really too difficult provided that you actually study throughout the semester and use SWOTVAC effectively. I know many people who crammed and all but it doesn't work in this unit, I can assure you; nonetheless, I should mention that it's not an easy HD regardless of VCE knowledge.
If you're picking up BIO1022 definitely enroll in PASS, it helped me greatly and assisted me in achieving my desired goal. BIO1011 is a bit dry though, from what I've seen so far, BIO1022 is much more interesting because you're pretty much applying a lot of what you learned in Semester 1.
