Okay, I'm much more comfortable writing and working in pencil than in pen, as I tend to erase and go back a lot and take up quite a lot of space, and I've read various threads on the use of pencils in methods, but I'm still seeing mixed opinions.
So, I guess my question is, would there be any chance of me being penalized, or my answers being smudged or scanning improperly if I were to use my favorite 2B pacer pencil tomorrow instead of a pen? I know I'd perform better with the ability to change my responses, but that's hardly worth it if the examiners can't even read what I've written :/
I would have thought the majority of students would do their maths exam with a pencil/pacer.
I did all my VCE maths exams in pencil and do the same for the majority of my uni exams. I even did so yesterday despite the fact we were "strongly discouraged" to do so (Yeah, if you didn't know already I'm totally a badass like that).
I've never had a problem in any of these instances
In some exams they recommend you to use pen because the exams are scanned onto a computer for marking. If I recall correctly in the off chance the writing becomes illegible when scanned they have procedures in place whereby the actual paper itself will be marked rather than a scanned copy, they don't just give you zero!
However, if a paper says you
have to use a pen (don't think this applies to maths), it might be in your best interest to do so.
