How can I approach practise essay writing to maximise my score?

I was wondering if I should write all of my practice essays timed ( 1 hour under SAC conditions) or write with no time limit. Also, is handwritten the best way to go or should I type my essays? Should I write an essay every week?
For now, I have an English creative sac approaching in week 3 of term 1 and I don't know how I should prepare for it.
Advice needed!

Hi Vanshikav03,

Some advice I was given by my English teachers was to always practice under SAC conditions as most students can write very well with unlimited resources and time but most can't write well under SAC conditions: always handwrite and write under timed conditions.
However it's up to you, I know some people write the first practice essays with their book and with no time limit until they get used to the book but its ultimately your decision on what you think will benefit you most as there a pros and cons to both timed and untimed essays - i don't think it matters too much at the start of the year but make sure you are writing under timed conditions leading up to the exam.

I'd say it depends upon your confidence with your knowledge of the text. Personally I started off doing practice essays typed up at first without being timed so that I could easily dump ideas down onto the page and play around with them and textual evidence to build up my confidence and understanding. Once you feel satisfied with ideas I definitely recommend starting to handwrite essays and doing at least 1 timed one before a sac, preferably 2 so that you can work on your timing
