Lmao I hate predicting scores, why am I doing this? #conformity #yolo
English: 20-26
Further: 42-46
Outdoor ed: 36-40
Enviro: 36-40
ATAR: 82-89.60
So I just put the lowest and highest of that range into ATARcalc....and I swear if I get 89.6 I'll be so annoyed lol. It's always kind of been a goal to get 90, but I really doubt it'll happen.
So anyway, the above I'm fairly confident on. But below are a bit more precise scores.
English: 24
Further: 46
Outdoor ed: 37
Enviro: 37/38
ATAR: 87ish
In my head I've been thinking 87 or 88 so that sounds about right. Still hoping for a miracle 90, but it's pretty unlikely.
Edit: Just a little update for future record. Am currently convinced that I'm going to get 85 :)
Ok guys so I did bio 3/4 this year and I got 35, is that a good result? There isn't really any way to objectively determine if it's good - that's up to you. The average is about 30 though :)
My highest study score is a 36 in informatics. (Scales to a 31, thanks VCAA).Feels. My 35 in outdoor Ed scaled to a 28.8 lol
Absolutely devastated. I was aiming for a 38 in Bio and instead got a 35 with a B+ on the exam. Was not expecting it to be that low at all. Far out I feel so deflated and like this whole years hard work was for nothing. B+ on the exam. So disappointed in myself. I thought I'd get at least an A on the exam.
This was my only subject this year. Is there a way to feel less bummed out?

You did worse than you thought - totally okay to be upset about that.I guess what I'd say though is make sure you use that to improve, you've still got more subjects next year so (after you have a break!) focus on how you can improve for them.

I had a subject I was disappointed in & I found that overtime I cared less and less - even though seeing that number was hard at first.
The hard work you put it wasn't for nothing; now you have a better understanding of how you study, respond to stress etc. and you can walk away knowing that you did what you could. In the end, t's the habits you build, the understanding you gain & the determination you foster that are important.
it might not feel like that now, but overtime you'll adjust

Managed a 42 for my Methods (Yay!)Maybe around 47? Mine was scaled up ~5. Well done!
Admittedly would've liked maybe one or two marks higher, but I'm happy with it.
Anyone know what that will roughly scale up to?

Maybe around 47? Mine was scaled up ~5. Well done!Thank you!! I'll happily take that.
Now I'm just interested on how I did on my respective exams. I know I got roughly 36 odd on Paper 1, but I didn't bother checking for Paper 2 (didn't really want my self-esteem jumping off a cliff XD)You can get a statement of marks if you want to know exactly - I think it costs something like $10-15
45 in Bio! :oCongrats!
A surprise, to be sure, but a welcome one. Especially considering how I thought my SACs doomed me! Not bad, not bad at all. I'm far too hopped up on adrenaline to have a clearer thought process, so I'll leave this here.
I'd say the best way to deal with it is to move on! Easier said than done, definitely, but I promise dwelling on it isn't worth it. Last year I worked my butt off in Bio and I was super disappointed with my exam (before receiving the study score). The fact that it was my only subject made it 10x worse because I just dwelled on it. Now at the end of this year bio isn't even in my top 4 (Even though I thought it would be), and so 5 study score points would barely make a difference. In hindsight, I really wish I didn't spend so much time worrying about it and it all ended up pretty good in the end (: Don't worry about it! And good luck for next year
Does anybody know how much Bio scaled up this year?

Disappointed with the scores I got, but evidently for different reasons than others may have in this thread. Biology and methods were the subjects I did in year 11, and I achieved excellent results in those subjects. I was hoping to match last year's performance this year, but it seems that did not happen.
Got 39 in Economics which was my only 3/4 subject. I averaged mid 90s on all my sacs but only got an A grade for GA1 and 2. I got an A+ on the exam as well, does anyone know why my sac results went down? What was your ranking and cohort strength?

I got an A+ on the exam as well, does anyone know why my sac results went down?Sacs get moderated to ensure that they are fair when comparing schools. Given you did better on the exam than GA1 & 2, you weren't rank 1. It means that say you were rank X, whoever did X best on the exam got an A. (that's simplified to the point of being confusing, basically your SAC marks don't actually matter because VCAA needs to compare people who do different SACs). Have a look at the Victorian Technical board if you wanna know more about it for next year.
does anybody know how much further scaled down by this year?? my raw was 44 and i just really wanted to see my scaled score!!42.46 (I got 44 raw as well)
thanks!! (hope everyone achieved the goals they set themselves this year!!)
42.46 (I got 44 raw as well)oh thanks!!
can i still apply for a course if i got one study score below the prerequisite? :'(I'm not really sure, you should probably ask that here so that someone who knows the answer sees it :)
If anyone could tell me roughly what the scaled scores would be that’d be amazing <3I reckon that 50 will scale to a 50 ;) Congrats!!

Thankyou to all of you in the AN community who've been such amazing support :) I'm massively greatful

So I’m in year 11 and I did biology this year and got a study score of 30, which I’m not particularly happy with but it has definitely given me motivation to try harder next year. I’m just wondering, because a study score of 30 is considered the mean, does this mean it won’t get scaled up next year when I receive my atar?It being the mean won't stop it from scaling, they're unrelated. However bio only scales a tiny amount so last year a 30 stayed at approximately a 30 (probably with decimal places but the scaling report doesn't show that).
Thanks
-snip-Congrats!!
To be honest... I am completely demolished. I have never felt this disappointed in my life. My study scores were horrendous.
ATAR: 99.05
Hi guys :), just wondering, anyone know what kind of ATAR (/UMAT) I'm gonna need to get into undergrad med (interview) from a rural school?
Thanks - TheAspiringDoc
I reckon I'm capable of about 98.5, but who knows? :)

I’m only in year 11 and I’m freakin out!
Honestly I put off reading that email cos I was so scared and legit had nightmares about getting horribly low scores!! ::)
So I got a 33 for Indonesian SL and I know those scaling calculators are dodgy and whatevs but it says I’ll probs get ~40 so I am quite happy with that! ;)
And for BIOLOGY I got A FORTY NINE ohmigosh I am so so SO happy with that!!! Didn’t even DARE to hope I’d get above 45 !
Thank you so much to virtually everybody on the biology thread... all complete legends! (Especially PhoenixxFire ❕) cos I literally asked like 60 questions in the days leading up to the exam and they were all answered!
(And yeah I know I sound like some ecstatic teenage girl but I am just sooooo happy!) ;D
Biology: 42. Not scaled because I'm a year 11.It won't scale much anyway (my 44 scaled to 44.64 - last year though so slightly different). Totally get what you mean about not seeming to match grades - I got A A+ A+ and was very confused haha. It probably means that you got low/mid A+'s
A+, A+, A+ for grades which is great but doesn't seem to match my study score haha.
I was a bit disappointed when I got it, I had slightly higher hopes, but it's still a good mark. I think I like biology more than any subject I'm doing next year, but hopefully I can still improve next year. This is really great :) I'm glad that you're able to look into the future rather than dwelling on it too much - you're right, it really is a good mark, but totally okay if you're a bit disappointed at the moment.
I got a 42 in Biology which was exactly what I was aiming for and had guessed I would get.Psychic :p
Does anyone here know what anyone of these subjects scores scale to?Methods: 47.51
Currently in year 11 and would like to know specifically out of curiosity.

46 in bio and 49 in further. Pretty happy considering I was aiming for a 42 in bio and 48 in furtherCongrats ;D
Cheers bro, appreciate it. Congrats on the Atar!Np :) Thanks!
Hi all,It's possible but I'd say it's unlikely - last year a 40 scaled to a 41, however that is rounded so it might not have actually been 40. If this is about the high achievers list, it uses raw scores not scaled anyway.
My friend here got a 39 in biology and she’s in year 11, can someone please tell me if this can get scaled to a 40??
DISCLAIMER: Don't be like me, I just wanted to share this funny occurrenceWeird flex, but ok.
I didn't read one of my english texts (part of comparative) for the whole year and still haven't. I've probably read 3 pages tops. I didn't finish my section A essay either, conclusion-less with a half-assed third bp. And I still managed to get a 44 raw. I was expecting a 35 at best. Yowza
My highest study score is a 36 in informatics. (Scales to a 31, thanks VCAA).
Raw 48 for biology, but probably got the lowest atar in Melbourne High history :'(#SelectiveSchoolThings
still pretty proud tho! :)That's what matters! Good job ;D
Big shoutout to PhoenixFire for the encouragement last night! That's so awesome! Congrats ;D (You have to go iceskating to celebrate now ;))
For some reason, even though I was day dreaming about going iceskating throughout my entire exam and averaging 82% in Unit 3, I managed to get a 47 in bio o.o"

Wondering what is the lowest Atar offer for law at Monash ?92.55 but they would've had other adjustment factors such as bonus points or SEAS
Can someone pls explain the difference between ATAR( including or excluding adjustment factor)You still look at the selection rank column (ATAR + adjustment factors). It is your selection rank that decides whether you will be admitted to a course, not your atar alone (although if you don't qualify for bonuses then your selection rank will be the same as your atar).
I m a bit confused
Basically if no added bonus or seas , which column do I look at ?
Sorry
im in year 11 rn, got 40 for psych, my 1 unit 3 and 4 subject...reallly realllyy happy honestly thought i would get somewhere b/w 20-25Surprises are great when they're good surprises! Congrats
hey i got 40 in psychology (unit 3 and 4 subject in year 11) n immmmm so happppyyyy coz i was expecting like 10 or something lol (okay 20-25 tbh). is a study score of 40 good according to y'all opinion?
amazing! especially as your first subject. It definitely motivates you for year 12thx for the encouragement
I'm fairly confident that I only lost couple of marks in chem exams according to the solutions published on Atar notes. So certainly not happy with B+ at all.Should probably get a statement of marks first - from what I've heard when they make errors it's usually because they miss questions or things like that so if you see anything weird in your marks (like if you're sure you got something right and it got marked wrong) then do an inspection and then if you (and your subject teacher) find errors you can get it checked by VCAA.
Should I get my exam rechecked after an inspection?
No Im just shit at all the other subjects lol.I thought that bio was the hardest out of the sciences lmao. Too much rote learning for my taste. I go to a low ranked school and I still thought that the SACS were relatively difficult.
Btw idk bout u but bio was a pisstake subject. The sacs I was given as well as the exam wasn't hard
I'm kind of confused with my Bio SS. I thought i did really good on all my SAC's and even the exam.I mean everyone above 40 will get A+'s but its the range that matters as well so they were probably low A+'s
I got A+ for all GA's but still ended up with only a 41?
what gives???
Methods: 47.51
I don't have info on any of the others, sorry
Wouldn't Methods scale up to 48.51. I thought it goes at least up by 5?Hey!
Hey!
I got a 40 in methods 2 years ago and it scaled to a 44.98, so methods doesn't necessarily scale up by 5, especially as it scales less the higher the raw score.
Thx Sine ..with No bonus or seas
Just normal Atar
Wonder if they will consider 96-96.5
Does anyone have what a 42 in HHD scales to? I can only see my raw score because I'm in year 11I think 39-40 according to the graded distribution from last year @ http://www.agtv.vic.edu.au/files/AGTV%202018/scaling_report_2017.pdf :)
Does anyone know what a 39 in methods scaled to this year? Thanks

Hey guys!SACs are worth 50% of your study score, so quite a bit.
here are my results for accounting (in year 11) im wondering how much SACs actually mattered? and also what percentage i am likely to have got on the exam? I feel like people with an A on the final exam got higher study scores than me, and I had an A+, but my GA1 SAC avg was B+ which may have dragged my SS down??? I also found it quite weird, since the grade distributions show that an A+ on the exam will get you a minimum of around 40-41 raw.
please share your thoughts!!!
thanks
Hey guys! Also, that study score bit isn't actually part of the grade distributions. Grade distributions only say what mark -> what letter grade.

Hey guys I got a 90.90 do u think I could get into arts at melb? The minimum is 85 but scared they’ll change the minumum tankThe median selection rank (ATAR + bonus points/seas) at monash clayton last year was 87 so you'll be fine
Kinda disappointed with my methods scores this year... :'( was hoping for higher. Anyway, here's my stuff. Can’t really tell without knowing your other subjects and how you generally perform in them but either way, it’s most likely possible, given some good ol’ elbow grease.
Prediction:
Chemistry: 40-43
Methods: 43-46
Reality:
Chemistry: A+ A+ A+ 45 (WOOAAAHHHH :o)
Methods: A+ A A+ 43
Anyone know if my dream of getting that Chancellor's scholarship is possible? According to AtarNotes calc, I need at least 48 in English, which is nigh impossible for me to achieve.
Hey guys!If they’re low A+s then it is possible that a straight 40 SS can occur. The grade distributions change a little yearly and remember that SACs can get moderated too.
Im in year 11 and I was just wondering if anyone else got A+ A+ A+ for methods and only got 40 raw.
I’ve been averaging 9/10 in SACS this whole year and know I might have bombed the exam a bit but still managed to get an A+...
I’ve already ordered the statements and I do want to see how well I did in the exam...but still I’m pretty dissapointed haha...
Any advice?
Hey guys I got a 90.90 do u think I could get into arts at melb? The minimum is 85 but scared they’ll change the minumum tankAdding on to PF’s answer, the minimum rank for Arts at UoM is unlikely to change that drastically so you’re pretty much good to go. :)

How do we figure out whether or not our actual ATAR is higher or lower than the predicted ATAR? Is it possible to call the school and ask them, or are they not allowed to tell us?What do you mean?
For some courses (e.g. Medicine), some unis require a predicted ATAR which is decided by the school.JCU/Curtin med schools are not allowed to tell you what your school predicted as your ATAR, as far as I know.
Can anyone help me out here Im so confused, I did HHD this year and Got A+, A+ (unit 3 and 4) and an A+ (exam), both my unit 3 and 4 were high A+s but I only scored a 42 raw, shoudlnt it have been higher

Can someone direct me to any recent post or thread with Commerce/law at monash please. Not sure if I'm looking at the correct degree, but according to this page, people with lower ATARs have been accepted, however the lowest selection rank last year was 98 which means you're unlikely to get in if you don't have SEAS/bonus points (if they're available for this course, I'm not sure). Regardless, you should leave it as first preference anyway on the off chance you get accepted, but it would probably be a good idea to consider other courses or pathways into that course.
Or can someone give any advice if 96.5 is too low to get into commerce/law and i should give it up as my 1st preference.
Can someone direct me to any recent post or thread with Commerce/law at monash please. You're higher than the lowest ATAR (unadjusted), so I'd guess you'd have a chance. Best to keep the BComm/Law at Monash as Preference #1 to see if you can get it.
Or can someone give any advice if 96.5 is too low to get into commerce/law and i should give it up as my 1st preference.
Subject Adjustments
A study score of 45 in any English equals 2 aggregate points per study. A study score of 40 in any English equals 1 aggregate point per study. A study score of 40 in Classical Studies, Economics, Geography, any History, Legal Studies, Philosophy, Australian Politics, Global Politics or Psychology equals 1 aggregate point per study. Overall maximum of 5 points.
thank you but unfortunately i am not eligible for seas or bonus etc. just straight atar ...thats why i was a bit concerned if i have any chance at all...or should i just change preference. You should leave it as your first preference anyway, but it's very unlikely that you'll get in with just your ATAR so have a look at other courses or pathways to get into that course.
thank you but unfortunately i am not eligible for seas or bonus etc. just straight atar ...thats why i was a bit concerned if i have any chance at all...or should i just change preference.Thats definitely not an ideal situation to have so its unlikely you get a first round offer, however you could potentially get later round offers.
Probably a bit late but I got a 42 in accounting and a 44 in Further.
Super stoked with accounting as I was expected a sub 40 because I felt like I bombed the exam, however I feel like I could have definitely done better if I put in more effort into memorising some of the theory instead of making up responses.
However I’m extremely disappointed with my Further result. I know I only dropped 1 mark in exam one as I thought I only dropped 1 in exam 2 as well but clearly not. I’m really curious as to see what I actually did get wrong in Further but I don’t think there’s any was to do so because none of my teachers are replying to my emails
As above poster said, the range of an A+ is still pretty large which can affect your study score. For example, I got A+, A, A+ and got a 43. This means that my Exam 2 (and maybe sacs) were a high A+ and thus made up for my A in exam 1 (also note exam 1 is weighted less).This. I received A, B+, A+ and got a 39 raw which means my GA1 and 2 were likely edging A+ and A respectively or my GA3 was a very high A+.
So happy!!!!
Did bio this year and got a 48!! Was in no way expecting it. I remember I came out of the exam thinking I was gonna get 39. Lowkey a bit sad I was so close to a perfect score.
Whatever the case, ATAR Notes tends to blow scores out of proportion - there are a lot of high-achievers here - so if you don't feel like you did well enough because you didn't get a 40 in something, remind yourself that the work is over and you did the best you could. The amount of effort and time you put in cannot be quantified by a final number, and you're worth a lot more than that.
