Thanks man
Any general tips for interview? I know it's meant to be a closely held secret but any advice whatsoever would be most welcome
Aside from the really standard advice (i.e. smile, polite, get to the point etc.) I really want to emphasise how important structure is. I've done a bit of interview tutoring and found that the really critical difference between people who do well in interviews and people who don't is how they structure their answers. So make sure that you have some people run a through practice questions by you, so you can practise putting together a structure that works for you and that gets your point across as well.
Also, don't forget to show your thinking. The purpose of the interview is to explore different facets of who you are. The interviewers will get the most insight into you as a person if you show them how you reached a decision, without just answering straight away. It's a really important skill to have in medicine—not only to be able to reach the right conclusion but to demonstrate how you reached it—so it's an element of the interview they really keen to see.
