UNIVERSITY OF MELBOURNE
G E N E R A L   C H A T   T H R E A D

To go straight to posts from 2018, click here.

What is this thread for?
Welcome to the University of Melbourne general chat thread. ;D This thread is for anything UOM-related. If you have general questions, ask them here. If you don't know where to ask something, ask it here. If you want to vent about your day at uni, do it here. If you want to chat about your subjects, do it here. Basically, whatever you want - this is the place for it. 👌

Who can post here?
Anybody! Most will be current students at the university, but even if you're considering studying here, you're absolutely more than welcome to post! Providing different perspectives is incredibly valuable.

Just note that to ask a question or make a post, you will first need an ATAR Notes account. You probably already have one, but if you don't, it takes about four seconds to sign up - and it's completely free!

In the interests of being better than Monash, let's have a thread for discussion of our semester/subjects/university in general. Ask for advice, help etc. without having to make a new thread for a minor question! Have a nervous breakdown to the support of your peers! Complain about the horrendous workload that's been dumped on you (I will be doing this!)

I'm not surprised, the city is a noisy place with all those cars and trams going past all the time.

And the massive wind tunnel all around campus.  The message probably got blown all the way to Gippsland.

Hurro, people.

Due to the Melb model, you have to complete the undergrad part (3 years) with an average of at least 65% (for example) to get into the master's program.
If you don't achieve this, does that mean you basically have a half-assed useless degree and you've wasted 3 years?

Does an H1 (80%+) equal a GPA of 7.0, and an H2A (75%+) equal a GPA of 6.5? I was told by a fellow biomeder that you need to get 85%+ to get a 7.0...
