Year 12 Psych..Freaking out!!

Currently in Year 10 and taking Psych Unit 1 [ school dusn't allowed 1/2] ]. Our teacher said that visual perception has been taken out of Unit 3 and added onto Unit 1 aswell as harder stuff put in. I know the study design has changed for Psych Unit 1/2 and the 3/4 study design ends in 2010. Is there any1 out ther'' who knows what will be added to Unit 3 for the new study design in 2011 [ my year ]..and also if anyone had a study design changed in their year where did they get past exams from relative to that design? Freaking out; hope something easy as visual perception is added in; what are your thoughts? :buck2:

You can still use past exams from old study designs (I was doing bio exams that were from before I was even born) because they don't change everything, just a few things so you should be able to pick and choose which questions are relevant.

I know there's a bigger emphasis on mental disorders (best topic ever) but I don't know if that's in the new 1/2 or 3/4 study design.

At least you won't have to learn visual perception in year 12 so that's a plus.

haha just realised you're doing the exact same subjs as me iNerd, and i'd say that you should still study accordingly whether its hard or not hard and just do your best

While I don't know the exact details, I believe that mental health has been placed into unit 3/4. When the study design is released, you'll get a chance to see.

And Visual perception is hard! What are you talking about? (perhaps now it's Unit 1/2, they're making it easier for students or something)

Visual Perception is definitely 1/2 now; i'm starting it next week! How do u know that mental health will be added in bcoz my teacher said that aswell...either that or "ageing." When does the study design come out? Lastly, what is involved in "Mental Health" ( concept learning, memorising, similar to what? etc )

That's just what I've been hearing from people.

I'm not sure how in-depth they'll go with mental health. It's unlikely they'll go into the biological aspects in great depth, perhaps a mention of the neurochemical that are suspected to be involved, but I'm not sure. They'll may be a bit of memorising in terms of remembering the various things in the DSM-IV but perhaps they'll be questions where you'll have to apply that knowledge to determine what mental illness a person has. Who knows?

Study design would probably come out mid-year I suspect, but again, not sure on that one. It definitely won't be the end of the year, teachers need time to digest it.

They've mostly rearranged things, most of the topics would've been covered in the old study design since mental health/normality used to be in unit 1/2. And while I love mental health, it was really, really boring but hopefully they've made it so it's not as dry.

Looks like a rebranding of the study design we're using now. If im right theyve tried to make everything interrelate so the learning is more progressive. Nomsayin?

^ wow at the new course

the brain, memory, learning & state of consciousness is all quite similar. they just took out visual perceptual system, and added in this new mental health which seems awesome. i'd love to study that part haha.
but for some reason the course looks shorter? it's now lost the third area of study for each unit, including the large topic of visual perception system.

shall be fun though. goodluck next year! don't worry about it now..
