oh my god during the selective exam last year i was so paranoid about doing that i would check the question i was on and my answer sheet for every single question haha.
do you reckon we'll need to know about electron shells and ionic compounds and valencies and all that, because I'm really bad at chemistry...

I learned how to find valence electrons like two weeks ago and thinking about it now, I've completely forgotten how to do it ugh. I'm so bad at remembering stuff! I'd say its worth revising over though, since a couple years ago the essays were on atomic structure, molecules and whatnot

in terms of maths, how far are you studying? are you doing yr 10 maths as well? also, do you think we'll need to know circle theorems and geometric proofs and all that?

I'm doing circle theorems at tutoring rn but I think if you have time, definitely go over it a couple of times, it might be super useful. As for geometric proofs, I was looking through notes on them and I found them super confusing but idk why. I might just try and have another go at them, Do you think we will have to know points of intersection between a line and a parabola and discriminants etc..? ty :)

ah man, at my school we don't even get science electives till year 10 arrgghhh, and my school cares nothing about science I swear. We only get science two times a week and I think we should get 3 tbh, its hard to learn or get anything done when you have 2 lessons per week. Good luck on the test!!

yeah, the academic level at my school isn't all that high. We have sort of like an extension program, but it isn't like an acceleration or anything. It sucks because I didn't do the test on time for to get in for year 7, and last year, there was about a couple of spaces free so I emailed them saying I would be interested but I guess I wasn't good enough :( It is annoying though, bc I don't learn anything in classes and I don't feel like I'm reaching my potential. However, next semester I get to do the extension maths elective, but I've seen the curriculum and I have already learned most of the topics :/ Guess its just up to me now ahaha

we get 6 science periods every 2 weeks (we have a 2 week timetable like week a and week b) my class gets 5 science periods on week b and 1 on week a like wtf. AND YES OMG literally everyone in my class hates science like they would rather do HUMANITIES AND LITERACY THAN SCIENCE WTF IS WRONG WITH U. but i get 5 math lessons every week so that's good lol
also good luck to you too man

Yeah, I just wish there was more freedom in the pracs we do. Most of our prac work is boring and basic stuff like doing exercises and then measuring heart rates. I love using microscopes, it makes everything so fascinating! We're doing chem as our next topic, but I doubt we will do anything fun. Even when we do, everyone always mucks around while I'm the grinch thats yelling at everyone to shut up lmao >_<
