I strongly encourage you to pursue subjects you're interested in (or that you need as pre-requisites), rather than basing subject selection scaling.
You can absolutely still get a high ATAR studying subjects that scale down. If you chose a subject like Methods, you may benefit from the scaling in a sense, but this is only negating the more competitive cohort, so it evens out.
Scaling is not designed to reward or punish you for studying certain subjects - it's designed to make it an even playing field, so you're able to pursue subjects you like.
For the record, my subjects:
> Business Management (scaled down)
> English Language (scaled up slightly)
> Further Maths (scaled down)
> Health and Human Development (scaled down)
> Psychology (scaled down)
> Visual Communication Design (scaled down)
And I finished with a 99.65 ATAR.
EDIT: You also don't need to get 95-100% on everything to get a 47+ subject score, for any subject.
