Hey,

I was wondering if anyone knows the Monash equivalent to:

1. https://handbook.unimelb.edu.au/subjects/mast10006

2.
https://handbook.unimelb.edu.au/subjects/mast10007

I tried asking Melbourne Uni but they keep giving me vague responses.

Thanks in advance.

It's tricky as Monash has more maths units at level 2 compared to these which are at level 1. But I'd probably say MTH2010 and MTH2021 would match the best.

Hi Arthur,

It's up to the uni as to which subjects they wish to give credit for. There's a handy tool each uni generally has called a credit search, which is a guide as to how much / what credit you can get if you transferred from one institution to another. AFAIK, it is based on the outcomes of past students hence why some units are not on there. I put the units you listed into Monash's credit search tool and it appears that you can get credit for ENG1005 - Engineering mathematics at Monash if the subjects you listed were completed between 2017-19 (although this is subject to change for 2020 and beyond).
I also tried putting a Monash math unit (MTH1020) into the UniMelb credit search and it just said that it can be counted as 12.5 points towards a Bachelor of Science.

Are you wishing to transfer? I guess all you can do to find out is to contact the uni again or in a different way to what you did previously (if you haven't already) (e.g. Stop 1, calling 13 MELB (13 6352)). If you do wish to transfer to UniMelb, I'd recommend viewing your desired course's entry requirements (under "Completed all or some of a higher education qualification"). If an offer is made to you, you can then apply for advanced standing to potentially gain credit from past higher education studies.

Sorry this wasn't much of a help

All the best with uni!

Hey, thanks for the reply! I'm planning to do post grad at Melbourne (https://study.unimelb.edu.au/find/courses/graduate/master-of-data-science/) and the prerequisites for the course are the aforementioned units.

Awesome! Perhaps it might be helpful to let the uni know of your situation again?
