14 exams with a guide, price range $30 to $40 depending on the mark-up

seems reasonable to me. i would be definitely buy it if i were a methods student, not many books like this are out.

You just need some good marketing. Other than that this sounds ideal. Honestly though, very few would follow the thing through in its entirety.

IF you can get a good word in at schools, particularly the 'elite' ones who pride themselves on results, then this would work well. I think you should consider making a teacher's edition, so that you can get at a wider market rather than restricting sales to the extremely dedicated (and foolish people who think having all study guides = success).

Not dissimilar to the A+ books from memory, except they work from the start of the course and progressively add new areas of study, rather than having completely separate exams.

Well I've done some figures, if you printed 10 books at 500 pages each at officeworks...
It would cost ~$18 per book to be printed and binded

And yes I'd definitely be interested, especially the setting out of questions
2010: Business Management [47]
2011: English [44]   |   Chemistry [45]  |   Methods [44]   |   Specialist [42]   |   MUEP Chemistry [5.0]   |   ATAR: 99.60
UMAT: 69 | 56 | 82 | = [69 / 98th Percentile]

Fuck, you're right, if god was backing this I'd make a KILLING. :P

But I see what you're saying :) I'm thinking I'll try and get it into the VCE bookstores, and then registered VNers can have a really nice discount for ordering online from me because it won't be going through a bookstore 3rd party who takes a significant chunk of the sale :P

It'd probably be even cheaper in bulk... This is shaping up nicely!

I guess my only problem is going to be startup capital. The first print edition would be quite small. I think what I might do is run a relatively small first edition batch off for online orders from VN (note: this won't happen until the book is actually written so don't start placing orders yet... man have I had a bad experience along those lines *cough XLL* :P) And use the money from that to make a decent print-run to send to bookstores...

You could sell some electronic copies first..

You can trust the upright members of VN not to share the file, right  ::)

I mean, it's not like there's any copyrighted material floating around the forum..

Embed within the file, a virus that remains dormant until called upon

Feasibly could be released on Kindle? Does anybody know if Kindle books can get hacked out of their licensing easily?

EDIT: Without a virus, obviously.

Make an electronic copy, save it as a word doc.
Then as someone make's an order to purchase one, type their name/code in the footer kind of like Derrick Ha, so that if one is found to be redistributed, you will know who it is?
