Adam's Gap Year Journal

So i didn't really know where else to start this, seeing i have found nothing else like this on ATAR Notes. It's not a "HSC or VCE journey Journal and it's not really a "University Journey Journal" either as i won't be starting that until 2020. So i guess this is in its own unique category as a Gap Year Journal"

So what has happened to me since the end of hsc exams?
Not much tbh. I kinda took a month off; playing lots of video games, watching tv, hanging out with friends etc. I've kinda been very lazy recently so its time for me to change that so i can have a great year next year! I'm now im looking at getting myself on track for next year.

Plans:
So i just got a new job at scenic world in katoomba working in food and bevergae. If you don't know what that is; scenic world is like a giant touristy place in the blue mountains. Its the place people go when they visit the greater sydney region and want to introduce themselves to the blue mountains. It's a really cool place to work and I'm beyond keen to start there. I left my old job at dominos that i had throughout year 12 which is slightly sad, as i loved the crew i worked with. But im moving on to greener pastures and this job will pay alot more which will help me for travelling next year. Although my current contract is only valid until February so i will have to do some more exploring next year (or hopefully renew my contract).

At some point im gonna start learning Italian, as it is a post hsc goal of mine and i will be visiting there next year and i also want to learn it as part of my italian heritage. It'll also help with travelling next year as im probably gonna do most of the country. I've got lots of friends and family over there and i really want to explore southern italy especially; so because I'll probably be there for a while, knowing the language will probably come in handy.

I'm also going to start working out at a gym soon cause i really need to get fit and i will be training towards getting my second dan black belt in taekwondo early next year. Year 12 really made me sedintry, so i need to fix that and get my fitness back on track and reverse the physical declines during year 12.

I also recently brought yet ANOTHER motorcycle and a new set of leathers, so im going to start getting some track time. I hope to be doing some racing next year before i travel away. Not for money or anything though, just for fun.

I'm also trying to improve myself as a person, so this journal will also serve as a way to document my personal growth. So follow me along with that as well! How I'm going to achieve this, i do not know. But im going to try to make an all round effort to do more acts of kindness, build new friendships and deepen existing ones and gain more knowledge and wisdom and to help others.
Depending on how much work i do, i may do some volounteering at my local salvation army store next year as well. It'll be good to get some volounteer experience under my belt!

So in summary, my goals for the next few months are:
-Earning lots of money at my job for travelling next year
-Learn Italian
-Get fit at the gym and earn my 2nd dan taekwondo black belt
-Start racing my motorcycle on the track
-Grow as a person
-Do more acts of kindness

My travel plans for next year so far
So the plan is so far to work in a summer camp in the USA over the american summer break. I'm working with a company called CCUSA in order to find myself a position as a camp counsellor next year. Once that finishes, so far the plan is a giant backpacking tour across western Europe. I haven't put heaps of thought into it yet, but the plan is to visit family and friends in Italy and Austria as well as backpacking scandinavia and spain and portugal. Of course, this is all set to fluctuate and change as nothing is definite yet except for the summer camp job. It will depend on how much cash i have, but i am aiming to stay overseas for as long as possible so we'll see how it goes.

Oh and this doesn't really count towards my personal travel, but my parents and i are going skiing in Canada over February next year for 3 weeks and i am beyond excited for that!!

So this is it! I will try to update this as often i can over the next year so that you can all follow my journey through everything next year. Feel free to ask me any questions or send through some comments as well. I'd love to interact with you all throughout the next year as i embark on this journey so please don't hesitate to comment or ask a question!  :)

I hope to inspire other people to follow a similar journey and i'll probably write something big at the end of next year as a summary. Keep posted and follow me on this adventure!

Much love AN Fam <3

Wow it feels weird to write "19" instead of "18" for the first time, better get used to that haha

Not much to say really as everything is kinda quiet at the moment.
My family and i have been mapping out our trip to Canada at the end of January which is cool, however, it's only a precursor to what will come later.
I still haven't been placed at a summer camp yet so its a bit hard to plan the rest of the trip without knowing where I'll be exactly in America and when that'll finish up exactly. Once i know that I'm gonna get straight into it.

I've started taking a few mentoring classes recently in order to help me to improve myself as well as me internally attempting that. So far i like where I'm going with that.
I'm just trying to be more open and out going and show my love and appreciation for those in my life.

My new job is coming along well and for the hours i work, I'm getting paid a lot. But i want more hours so I'm gonna start looking for a second job because despite what I'm earning at the moment, I'm gonna need a lot more. So fingers crossed i can find something.

So that's it for now. I'll check in again towards the end of the month!
