Is it true that MHS is toxic?

A lot of friends and family friends are telling me that the boys at Melbourne High School are really toxic and egotistic and there are a lot of bullies there. Is that true? If it is, is it the same for the other selective entry schools? (Nossal, MacRob, etc.)?

I think that this statement is just a huge generalisation. Obviously all schools will have some good and bad apples and I don't think that you can say all people at a specific school are bullies or egotistical. I can't speak for the other selective schools, but students at MHS are just like students at any other school. Maybe there's a really small people who have some ego regarding passing a selective test but that basically disappears in the middle of year 9. Most kids at MHS kind of just cherish the Wednesday early school finishes, hang around at the library at lunch, go do things they are interested in at school like orch or any sports teams and just have a good time with their friends just like at any other school. I don't think you need to worry about the so called 'toxicity' and 'ego' as an issue, if you come to the school you're probably going to find a good group of friends that you'll belong to.

I was told the same thing from my Chinese mom. I was only told this because my mom refused to let me to go to Melb High. I know people from my year level that went in 2016 and they all got high ATARs and got along really well. I went to Box Hill High School in 2016.
