Hey Everyone,

Just wanting to confirm is "g" (gravitational acceleration) 10ms^-2? Because at the start of the year the study design stated 9.8 but I have been told to use 10 by my teacher and I'm just wondering if that is the correct number to use

Thanks

acceleration due to gravity on the earths surface is given as g = 9.8m/s^2 as per the formula sheet uploaded during april of this year click here to see it.

IIRC gravity was given at 10 in previous years - not 100% sure on this since I didn't do physics LOL

However use 10 for your SACs since that is what your teacher wants, although I would very clearly ask the teacher which one they wanted you to use for the SACs.

I have been using 10 in the SACs, but I don't want to go into the exam thinking its 10 when its meant to be 9.8

It depends on how many significant figures are given, but in general I believe 9.8m s-2 is the best to use. My teacher tells us to use that and I believe that is the figure used in VCE.
