My hand hurts from writing too much

Hi, not really sure where to put this but I was wondering if anyone had any advice about hand pain? I've been doing a lot of practice essays and today I was about to start writing another one when I realised that the like bump on my middle finger where the pen rests was like really raw and it hurt to write. Has this happened to anyone else? Please give advice :)

I've definitely been there, when I did my trials my hand ached after writing essays. I don't have much advice though :/ I just powered through knowing that I just needed to get past each set of exams.

We did a study skills seminar, and the instructor suggested taping an eraser to the end if your pen or buying a weighted pen, write with it all year and build up your endurance and when exams come round take it off and you should supposedly be able to write longer without getting tired.

Personally I don't use this technique I just write with an ink pen.
