Hey. Just out of curiosity, how do we find out what our WAM is? (can we get it for only one semester?)

Is it just me? Or is the g-mail university e-mail down =(?

Yeah it is. So is the library authentication server for research databases, which is playing havoc with assignments :(

Your WAM? Just average your subject marks. You're only in first year so there's nothing "weighted" yet.

People from my high school took choir last year.  And they failed.  It's a P/F subject, how do you fail?

Not rocking up to rehearsals (they take attendance at the start; I usually marked my name off then snuck out), or passing the concert reports (unless that's changed).

From my understanding, Pass/Fail subjects are not counted towards GPA. However does that mean, that this may muck up GPA calculations a bit as you'd be technically one subject short of what your supposed to have had you done a normal 'marked' subject?

I think they just increase individual subject weighting in a GPA year,

normally its 12.5 points so 8 subjects make up 100 points,

so were one subject is P/F, each would be ~14.3 to reach 100,

Im not sure though

I guess that would make sense. Might consider taking one next year as breadth if all goes well this semester and if thats the case.

P/F in 3rd year might be dangerous, if you only do 4 subjects in semester 1 and one is P/F, each subject is worth a third of GPA3, so 33.33 points (each subject worth 16.7% overall) (3*16.7=50), providing that youve only completed 3 marked subjects in your last gpa year that is.

EDIT: Im only including semester 1 in calculations because sem2 not released until after applications

Pretty sure it would be 80% attendance required?  Or 85%.  Either way if it has ensembles every week you should be fine as long as you don't miss another one.

They are released in Oct (http://studentcentre.unimelb.edu.au/eastern/subject_information/summer_subjects) but by the look of the current handbook Bio is a no-go which is a shame because I really want to do it (or any of my subjects) over the summer.

I think its just an arts thing. Commerce and Science tend to be put into lectures that have 'comfortable' temperature regulation :P

how can you recommend it if you havn't even done it yet? It could be the hardest thing ever :P
