I know the feeling... (that was Texts and Traditions for me...)  If you want people to respond you should stick to mainstream subjects ;)
Hope that bumping this thread might get you a response!

I happened to glance at my profile stats, and second on my list of 'most popular boards by activity' was classical studies.  I'm like, "What on earth? Does a subject called that even exist?!?"  Gradually memories filtered back... obviously my single post sticks out a long way in the midst of the tumbleweeds :P

C'mon shy guys, join the fun and spread the love!  The view counts show you exist, and it really isn't that scary to post here... (otherwise I wouldn't, since I've got nothing to do with the subject :) )

classics is so unmemorable even the people who post in it's forum forget it exists hahaha :)
part of me feels like the view count is entirely comprised of amused spectators...either that or they're all like "wtf is classics ima click dis"

Yeah... just rereading my post, and it's not really that supportive or encouraging is it :P
Well, I'd contribute seriously if I could... the best I can say is that I had a friend who did Classics, loved it and it was her best subject.

I've been the scared spectator guest who wanted other people to post in my subjects, was too shy to do so myself, but was always lurking round watching :)  Reckon they really are out there...

[Not having done it], I think it's about classical/ancient Greece and Rome.  You study how certain classical writers and artists explore ideas in their texts, their techniques and what it reveals about the sociocultural context of the era.  But they're so lazy nowadays, back in the day you had to read them in the original Greek and Latin :)

Success!  There are now *TWO* people doing classics on this forum!  (Don't ask me why I suddenly became interested in this board... maybe because it well and truly tops my 'most popular boards by activity' :) )

basically this haha. there's a profound interest in what, through the medium of language, the ancient greek/roman worlds communicates to us about the human condition and how periods of sociopolitical upheaval contribute to these insights. it's really super duper cool and awesome.
maybe youre like a beacon for classicers bangalok...relying on you to draw in more of us :)

What a mouthful. Haha.

Reading Medea for English. It has been more interesting than I had first anticipated, it even influenced me to have a look at the classics study design, I'm seriously considering it; hence why I am lurking in this thread.
