Given that it's reccomended you drink protein within 30 m after excercise, what if you're in the gym for ~90 minutes working different muscle groups? is it worth drinking a bit in the middle of a workout ?
I do haha, like 2/3 of the way through, I have a gulp :)

Don't any of you guys use creatine monohydrates?

It raises my strength up like crazy (srs).

I'm currently using it.

Lucky to get something thats for free :).

What sucks about creatine is that i always get the bloated look lol, which sucks heaps, well I'm looking for size so i guess it will help a lot.

I use 'Creapure' and the brand is 'Beast Nutrition'

Yeah but the water retention in the muscles does help with your lifts.

Creatine isn't exactly bad for cutting, but it's much harder to track your results with the erratic water retention from cycling it.

Yeah I have the GNC Creatine Monohydrate, have been off it for a while now. I get really bad gas haha, don`t really notice much water retention though. One of my friends gets water retention in his face so he stopped using it :\

protein = take a wpc in the morning
take a WPI straight after workout , within 40 mins.

creatine = ive probably tried them all , well all the mainstream brands. IMO , They dont really do all that much .. but if i was to recommend one i would say either vital strength or balance creatine monohydrate ...

the truth about supplements is this .... people ( in the past includes myself ) spend so much money on supplements.
I think ive spent maybe a grand or more on then by now.
People buy them expecting no side effects and stay away from steroids because of the side effects and cost.

Whilst i HIGHLY DO NOT recommend steroids in any form , it would be cheaper , safer and more effective to use them for a short period than to use supplements for a long period.

i now have tachycardia from using pre-workout drinks such as jack3d and noxplode , dmma and beta alanine.

The only supplement i truly recommend is protein powder for those who do not intake the adequate amount in their diet.

Dont be fooled Bazza, protein shakes are not some compulsory drink for those who want gains. And the prospect of taking it 30 minutes after your workout isn't what's most important. Your muscles don't instantly heal and grow after that one sitting of protein shake. It takes muscles days to fully heal, therefore requiring protein CONSTANTLY. Stop thinking about protein shakes as some miracle drink, rather think of it as a complement to your diet. You should be having no more than say 20-30 grams protein per meal, and 3 meals a day; level it accordingly if you choose to have 4 meals. That way your bodies ongoing demand for protein is satisfied regularly. So whenever you are unable to achieve that 20-30 grams of protein in a meal, have just ENOUGH shake to achieve a good amount for that one meal. Most people shouldn't even need to have protein shakes. You can easily get enough protein each meal with chicken, eggs or tuna + a glass of milk. but ye within 30 min of your workout shud be good

also eat your oats

Thing is there really isn't any convenient protein meal after your work out. Reason I have a shake after workout is because I cant eat anything before I workout otherwise my stomach feels sick and I havent eaten for so long I might as well have a shake after my work out. Ceebs carrying boiled eggs to the gym LOL

and +1 on oats.

i ended up buying some protein just because i'm going to be going to gym mostly straight before school, so i don't really have time to consume any protein afterwards. I was doing a bit of research on when to drink it, some people say before excercise; others say after, what's your opinion??

Is it best to drink a bit before and a bit after, or just after??

It has been shown that you have a 24 hour period after exercise that ingestion of protein in induces same results. all this 30 minutes after crap is insulin spiking stuff and bullshit only necessary for endurance athletes not weightlifting..unless you're running for 3 hours straight you're fine
