Does selective breeding lead to a population bottleneck?

Not technically but it does indeed have the same effect genetically. Good pick up.

Thanks for that.

Regarding cellular respiration:
Glycolysis produces 4 ATP but a net of 2 ATP as 2 ATP are required in the glycolysis prepatory stage.
Krebs cycle produces 2 ATP.
ETC produces 32\34 ATP.

So net total of 36\38 ATP. However, 2 ATP are required to transport pyruvate across the mitochondrial membrane. Where does this extra ATP come from?

Did you do a "media analysis" SAC? Where you had to analyse articles?

Hi all,
Does anyone know about any good biology lectures running these holidays which aren't too expensive and are in melbourne cbd or around South Eastern suburbs?
I've checked out neap and tsfx and they cost so much! :(

I did one last night and it was pretty good. I haven't done heaps of other brands though so I don't know about a comparison.

From what I recall of VCE biol, the practice exams I got the most out of were the TSSM, Insight and NEAP ones.

NEAP gets a lot of flak for being 'hard' but the structure of the exam is very similar to the VCAA ones, and it's always good for a bit of a challenge if you (think you) know your stuff pretty well.

TSSM is good; questions are well-written (usually) and the difficulty is/was around what the VCAA exams are.

Insight was alright but I preferred the other two above much more. I didn't bother much with things like Lisachem etc.

So selective breeding can lead to a wide variety of different species arising from a single species (e.g. dogs originating from their ancestral wolves).

Does this still reduce genetic diversity of the population or of the individual species?

Are we required to know about reproductive technologies in humans (IVF, Gamete Intra-Fallopian Transfer etc.) ?
