So, I haven't done my preferences at all and the system is closed. So what happens? Do I even get allocated?

It reopens on the 17th, you can allocate to tutes which are not full yet.

I'm in the same boat as you as I haven't allocated my timetable at all (still waiting on my tutoring timetable lol), but don't worry, even if some tutes are full, just rock up to the tute on the day and ask if you can be put down in the tute, most of the time tutors won't care if an extra student allocates in an already "full" tute.

Allocate opens in adjustment mode today (10 am i think). You can choose to allocate yourself to any subject with available spots. You have the option to wait there all day like some kind of timetable hawk and hope someone swaps out of one of the primo spots. It happens fairly often.

Alright, thanks for the responses. I'll see how it goes tomorrow and if all fails, I'll rock up to my preferred tutes anyway. ^_^

Timetable thread it is!
Here's what not entering preferences into Allocate gets me.

SOOO MUCH BETTER THAN LAST SEMESTER! I might actually be able to get some proper sleep this time/do study for more than one unit during the semester :) Although I still have a "get home at 8pm and wake up at 5am the next day" each week.

                CLASSES       BREAKS       TIME AT UNI
Sem 1:       23 HRS        15 HRS           38 HRS
Sem 2:       19 HRS         5 HRS            24 HRS

NET GAIN:  -4 HRS         -10 HRS         -14 HRS

Quite happy with it, only missed one first preference.
Semester 2

Compared to Semester 1

...and yes I know that I could just generate the timetable from Allocate+, (needed to redo last sems though)

Looks a lot better. I remember last semester, you were complaining about the amount of breaks you had compared to my crammed 3 day week. Looks like its the other way around now!
