Put it under water or put it in the fridge once you've chopped it in half. That's what I've been told works... otherwise you can try wearing a scuba mask  as you cut it and ensure it's suctioned well on to your face! (Darn it PF, you stole my joke.)

What does the bread do?

idk apparently it just works

but from some research it absorbs the acid from the onion, which is produced when the onion cells are ruptured. Without the bread the acid forms on your eye.

Any ideas on thoughtful birthday gifts to a close friend (guy)? I always get stuck on this and trusty ol' Google ain't so helpful this time around. Would prefer to reference Japan where possible due to past events.

I often just go to a shopping centre and wander around until inspiration hits me usually little gift stores are a goldmine.

Otherwise, I've found stuff you've made that's super heartfelt is also great. Get a jar from Kmart and write nice stuff about them or positive quotes on paper, cut them up, and put them in the jar.
