What subjects requires tutoring

For year 11 especially, what subjects do you recommend seeking out tutoring for?
If I'm doing bio in yr 11 should I have a tutor for that seeing that it's a 3 4? Or is it not really worth it cause it's mostly rememberising? Has anyone ever gotten a tutor for bio and if so, has it really helped?
thanks.
Plus does anyone know a tutor who teaches English, Maths AND perhaps chem and maybe physics oh and bio (basically everything), in the northern suburbs if possible?

If you're struggling then you might need one, but I wouldn't go trying to find one unnecessarily. A tutor can't really help you memorise anything, which is sadly a large part of the VCE biology assessment. If you're not getting the underlying concepts then think about hiring someone. Work out what subjects you need conceptual help and support in :)

Perhaps think about getting someone over the summer break so that you can get a head start on the work and see whether or not you'll need help for the rest of the year?

Oh, and I know I just said take your time but how far north are you? I'm inner city northern suburbs if you're interested. I refuse to teach physics though, I value my sanity.

At the beginning of year 12, i thought a tutor was a must to help me succeed. I pretty much scoured through hundreds of tutor topics on VN and the internet looking for a tutor/s for all my subjects.
Ended up getting around 10 different private/class tutors over the course of a couple months and spending a few hundred bucks in the process.

In the end, I didn't learn anything, well, nothing I could have learnt from just reading the textbook a few times.

I'm not saying tutoring is not for you but as Russ said, if you understand the content and can self-learn, a tutor isnt really necessary.
That's not to say we don't have any brilliant tutors here ;] Russ is pretty good himself ;P

I've stopped going to jacks 3 times a week simply because the time spent at tutor could be better utilised at home, whether it be self study or practice exams.
If the need arises that you don't understand something, and school teachers and VN can't help you, then maybe a private tutor would be beneficial, however there is no guarantee they can help you any more than friends or teachers (may just be a waste of time and money).

That's quite a hike. Northcote High? I live near there.

I pretty much agree with this. Get a tutor when you realise you need one, not before you start learning. Thanks for the compliment as well :)

Perhaps you should have just stuck with one tutor?

Pre-emptively, I actually live in the northern suburbs, although I'm only really confident teaching English...

is there any tutors that are decent in English and Chemistry?

best for you to wait till the end of the year to find out which students from this year are keen on teaching you both.

There aren't many "experienced" tutors that would know the course for both of those.
vce: english, methods, spesh, chemistry, physics, geography.
