Could My sac Scores Be Incorrectly Entered

Hey Guys,
I just received my study scores back for methods and got a study score of 45 however for GA 1 (SACS) I only got an A while the other 2 GAs were A+. Throughout the year I've only dropped 5 marks overall in all sacs and although I'm not rank 1 I am pretty sure I was within the top rankings - teacher never disclosed our ranks. I've also asked friends from other schools and they have told me that they have A+ for all their GAs but a lower study score. I feel like either vcaa or my teachers have stuffed up my sac scores. I was just wondering if there's a way of getting this checked out and if anyone has experienced a similar issue because I feel like my low sac scores may have affected my ss slightly. Thanks!!

Hi JamieLeaf,

it is a possibility that your sac marks were entered incorrectly. Although knowing your rank and cohort strength would also be super helpful in gauging whether and error has occurred.

I do know of something like this happening in the past and someone's study score was upgraded from a 46 to a 50. The mistake made was 99/100 sac marks being input as 89/100.

I would get in touch with your school and perhaps your subject teacher to see what sac marks they sent in and if there is a problem get in touch with vcaa.

As for whether your sac score impacted your ss - it has definitely happened - since you scored a 45 with A sacs it shows your exam scores were probably within the high 40s/50 range if adjudged on their own.

Hey Sine,
Thanks for the reply. My cohort is quite strong as the top sac rank achieved a study score of 50 and quite a lot of my friends got above 40. Thanks for telling me that I could check with my school on what sac scores they entered in. I also heard that there is something called statement of marks. Will applying for that help me in solving my problem?? Thanks!!

Hey JamieLeaf

If you order a statement of study score, it will reveal what raw sac scores were entered and the corresponding scaled sac scores for GA1 as well as your marks for GA2 and GA3. You could order this to make sure your SAC marks entered were correct

Check with your school. It is possible for them to have entered marks in incorrectly, and it is possible to change it retroactively if the school realises they have indeed made a mistake and contacts VCAA to rectify.
✌️just do what makes you happy ✌️

I beleive the stament of marks (SoM) goes into detail of what marks you got for each question and thr stament of study score (SoSS) tells you how your study score was calculated. So it will tell you your initial sac mark and scaled sac mark and total scores of exam. Also they should show how those scores related to the cohort by showing your standerdised z score.

I think they are free this year so doesn't hurt to get both.

Hey Sine,

I know this might not be the right thread to talk about this, but the issue I have is very similar.
So I have the same problem as OP, and I ordered both Statements of Study Scores and Marks. I emailed it to the required VCAA email address, should I expect to receive an email in return to confirm that my application for the Statements has been received (and is being processed)?
Also, I requested it be delivered via email, so how long does that take?

I emailed it 2 days ago and got it this morning, no confirmation or anything - just an email with the statement.

Thanks for the reply Nexica,

So did you receive the Statements in your school email, or the email that you sent the applications via?
