SACs and marks in Unit 3 AOS 1 P.E

Hi,

I just have a question regarding SACs in Unit 3 AOS 1 for P.E.

My teacher has decided to split the SACs for this AOS, so 1 sac on skill acquisition, and the other one on biomechanics. According to the study design, the SAC for AOS 1 has to be out of 50 marks TOTAL, so generally 25 marks for each SAC.

However, my teacher is doing 50 marks for each SAC, meaning that the total marks for Unit 3 AOS 1 that we are doing is 100 MARKS.

She claims that because this ALL contributes to Unit 3, and so each of these SACs contribute 50% each of Unit 3, therefore out of 50 marks, but I think she has forgotten about AOS 2, which also contributes?

I believe that I am in the right, because I hear this in my other subjects, and how you need to split the marks, however who is right in this situation?

Please move if in the wrong place.

The 'marks' for VCAA aren't necessarily the marks on the test. Potentially your teacher may be having SACs which have 50 marks yet scaling them to 25 marks when she submits it to VCAA.
2017 - Further Mathematics (50), Biology (49)
2018 - English (39), Mathematical Methods (44), Specialist Mathematics (38), Chemistry (50), UMAT (100th)
ATAR - 99.35

By scaling them down you keep your same percentage but the total marks goes down. So if you get 25/50 for your first sac multiply that by how many marks is submitted to vcaa. Say if it’s 100 marks for unit 3 and you have 4 sacs, 25 each generally. So (25/50) x 25 = 12.5/25 is the score that’s submitted to vcaa, however I’m pretty sure they round .5 up so it’d be 13/25.

Does PE still scale down this year because of the new study design?

PE probably will scale down but it is not because of the new study design, scaling depends on how hard the competition is in that subject.
