THIS THREAD WILL BE UNLOCKED WHEN THE Q+A STARTS

WEEKEND Q+A #5: CALEBARK
FRIDAY 6TH JULY: 5PM - 8PM

A LITTLE ABOUT CALEBARK

Yooooooo,

My name's Caleb, and I'm one of ATAR Notes' favourite reptiles!

I studied Year 12 in 2016 and 2017, where I completed Biology, Physics, Chemistry, English, and Further Mathematics, in addition to proudly dropping out of University Extension. I've deferred my first-year position at Monash Science for a year while I earn some dosh and, more importantly, try to figure out what I want in life.

My VCE was filled with some fun extra challenges, the most notable one being a few months spent homeless, which is why I'd be more than keen to try and help with any questions about dealing with disadvantage in secondary education. I've also got a spare bit of wisdom for dealing with independent living, three-year VCEs, and memes -- however I am more than happy to deal with any sort of question.

In other parts of my life, I spend too much time listening to music, finding the next dog to pet, and coming last at weekly trivia.

HOW DO I GET INVOLVED?

Hey!

I was taking Anatomy & Physiology at Victoria University, St Albans campus, which is only available to select schools in Melbourne's west. I was grouped in with students from the Paramedicine and Midwifery courses, which was pretty cool. I discontinued it because despite being my favourite subject, it was very time consuming. I had to attend every Wednesday for 1 lecture and 1 tute, which a prac every fortnight. It was about an hour there, then 3-7h on campus (depending on how spread out everything was), then an hour back. I also had 2 additional lectures to do per week in addition to catching up on missed VCE subjects. It was manageable, but it meant I had very little time for relaxing, working, or taking care of myself, so I thought it was best to stop.

Also, can we ask more than one question?

For the content, it was Biology, purely because it was the easiest to see how it relates to the real world. Oh, learning about DNA replication? I have DNA! Learning about immunity? I've been sick before! Learning about inheritance? I have blue eyes! With my other science subjects, it was a bit more removed from the real world -- like titration or electromagnetism, while interesting, aren't as easy to relate to. English and Further Maths were just so dry (sorry!) that I don't put them in the running. However, I enjoyed Physics the most overall, just because my teacher was my all-time favourite teacher, and we had a fantastic class dynamic.

You may ask more than one question, yes

Couldn't just choose one to ask so:

What's your favourite meme?
What makes a dog a good boy/girl?
Favourite recipe to make?

Seen it?? Of course I have! I even have a screenshot!

Hmm, good question. I think it was strongly influenced by my time spent in hospital as a kiddie. For some context, I was born almost four months premature, so I had a whole host of health issues as a young one, meaning I spent a lot of time in hospital. As all kids, I asked a lot of questions about what was going on. What does surgery do? What does blood do? Why do I need to drink more water? How do X-Rays work? My superhero nurses would always take the time to provide answers (in very simple terms, obviously), so that exposed me to how things worked. They really helped stoke my curiosity, which led to me always wanting answers for everything. Science is all about finding answers, so hey, why not seek a career in that.

>make atar notes account
>click 'add picture'
>hmm, nothing in my folders as i don't save many pictures
>my best friend had just finished spamming me with turtle photos, so turtles were on my mind
>google image 'smiling turtle' and save the nicest one for my picture
It wasn't until much later that I realised it was actually a tortoise. I'm at the point where I feel like I can't change it, so I may as well keep this very cute tortoise

Couldn't just choose one to ask so:

What's your favourite meme?
What makes a dog a good boy/girl?
Favourite recipe to make?

this Maginot Line meme killed me the other day

This question makes no sense. All dogs are good boys/girls by default

Mish mash! It's pretty much an omelette mixed with capsicum, onion, tomato, parsley, and feta. You can find a good recipe for it here! :)

I don't think it, I know it. The sweetness of the pineapple cuts through the saltiness of the pizza
