I am so pumped to see you guys! <3

Okay, so:
1. Where in the Carlton Gardens? It's a big park mate.
2. How will we get there? Would we want to meet at the train station and go to the gardens together, or meet somewhere specific in the gardens?
3. Should we bring food/drinks/money for food/drinks? (I'm bringing food even if we do get pizza, tzatziki is a compulsory party snack)
4. Do we want music? I have a speaker I can bring if so
5. What's the weather going to be like? Should we rug up? Do we have shelter if the weather goes downhill?
6. DO WE HAVE A PICNIC BLaNkeT

(actually, best idea: pull a Jamon and post a giant party invitation!)

1. Okay, fair. Let me re-post my directions from last time.

Directions
Sussed it out today, y'all. Carlton Gardens look miiiiint. Here's how to get there from Melbourne Central Station.

So, take the exit onto Swanston Street. This is the one that goes to the State Library (you go up the escalators and then left past the big clock thingo). Cross the road toward the State Library; your view should be something like this.

That's the State Library on the right. If you turn your head 90 degrees to the left, you should see the big green slimy roof of RMIT. Walk straight up La Trobe Street - so, directly away from Melbourne Central Station.

If you keep walking, you should see this:

That's Mr. Tulk on the right (a café attached to the State Library). It might be closed on the day (public holiday and all). Just continue walking up La Trobe Street.

You should soon see this building. That one on the right in the image above is the building our Tutorial Centre is in, coincidentally. Keep walking past it - still on La Trobe Street.

Basically, this is at the end of La Trobe Street - you'll be able to see Carlton Gardens for sure. Just walk toward the grass lol. And then you'll be met with something along the lines of this:

Aaaaaaand we're laughin'!

2. Easiest way is Melbourne Central Station, and then walk up La Trobe Street (as above). Happy to meet wherever's most convenient.

3. Bring whatever you like! I usually bring snacks but like, I always over-cater. Happy if people want to bring some snacks, or a little bit of cash for pizza etc.

4. Music - sure, bring it along.

5. Usually we have the Centre as back-up, but it'll be used that day. But we can easily seek refuge in a near-by cafe etc. :) Weather is predicted to be 12 and sunny, apparently. Worth rugging up, but I'm sure our conversation will be warming.

6. I don't have one, but that's a pretty good idea.

Last year I got off the tram,  went up to the first group of people and asked "is this atarnotes?" 10/10 tactic would recommend.
Pretty sure everyone brought snacks to share, our shelter when it started raining was a large tree & speaker + picnic blankets are good ideas.

Don't know how much of that applies to this meetup but hope this helps anyway

Yep, sounds pretty spot on.

@Anybody who doesn't know anybody IRL: happy to pass over my contact details so you can 100% find the group on the day. ;D

Update: was busy packing things that I need later next week, and I have somehow managed to lose the picnic blanket to a black hole, but I'll bring a beach towel and (a slightly coffee-stained) blanket, if needed ;D
(Also I did find my uno deck! :) )

I'll probably arrive early due to buses and works on the Hurstbridge line, so see y'all there! Will be leaving just past noon - I've got work. So you'd better come when I can say hi, Nick! :))

Oh no, get better soon, miniturtle! I’m at the park, y’all. If you walk up LaTrobe street and see a blonde girl moodily leaning against a tree in a white beanie, that’s me! 😊

I open this thread to see what time I should think about getting out of bed and this is what I see.  Well, I guess I should get up in the next hour or two.
