Title: Australian Catholic Uni Clearly in ATARs
Post by: ffs1234 on May 14, 2017, 09:43:44 pm
Anybody know why ACU clearly in ATARs are so high but they accept a high percentage of people below the clearly in?

e.g. paramedicine @ ACU - 85.85 clearly in, 67 % of people got below that. 61 applicants as well ( just one of the many courses they have on offer)

They don't want their place to be empty.

They need the money.

This could be due to many factors. These factors include SEAS and subject bonus points*, which both add to the ATAR aggregate, to effectively bring someone up to the clearly-in score required. From what I know, % under clearly-in includes those who have not met the clearly-in ATAR, yet still got into the course with SEAS/bonus points.

*not 100% certain if ACU have subject bonus points- consult ACU websites/VTAC coursesearch to clarify this. :)

(Someone feel free to correct me on this :) )

They also have what's called a Community Achievers program (CAP) which is where people who have done community service can apply to get an offer to a course with a lowered atar for example if you wanted to do nursing at Melbourne it's around an 80-85 but through CAP it gets dropped to around a 59
