Title: Poet's Artsy Things!
Post by: Poet on March 18, 2018, 06:16:33 pm
Hey all!

So, looks like I've finally started a thread for my work! ^-^

I've been threatening to do so for about a week, so here it is. Tell me what you think. :)

I'll begin by putting up some of my works from 2017, and then put in my more recent works. I'll aim to put at least one work into my collection weekly. So, here's my first one, called 'Wings'. I did this when I first took an interest in drawing people, so the hands, face and feet aren't very detailed at all.
Not the best works by any stretch of the imagination, but they're little pieces of who I am, my thoughts and my dreams. Some have little poems with them. 'Wings' has this little one:
Spoiler
"So I dance
With wings that cannot fly
Beautiful, useless wings.
But though I am grounded
Imagination soars
I will touch the stars."
Sorry the image is sideways. :P

Hope you guys like them!

Poet xx

P.S. PM me anytime if you have any questions about what I'm up to art-wise. I love to talk about exhibitions and artists! 💕

*pokes Joseph41* Look, I did it, just for you.

So this isn't me putting up work on the forum, but I have some art news! 💕

I entered my year 12 finals from last year into an exhibition called the Creative Minds Exhibition, and I was accepted. It's my first ever public display, and we're bumping in my works on Wednesday!!! ;D ;D ;D
The exhibition itself officially opens on the 24th of March (this Saturday) at 2 pm.
I have two works, one I'm selling for $800 (a collection of skulls and bones I've decorated) and another I'm putting up for $400 (some rocks I've done designs on).
I doubt anyone will make an offer, but it's an achievement for me.
I'll try to get some photos up here at some point, but for now, I just can't wait!

I'm so excited! ;D

P.S. Love you guys, you're so encouraging and honestly the best!💕💕

Hey lovelies!💕
I went to the opening of the art exhibition today, and it was really good. I met a couple of friends (@technodisney haha) and it was fun. The artwork is amazing!! It inspired me to put up some more of my work in here...
So, here's another one! It's a tribute to Project Semicolon that I drew a while ago. I found this a really encouraging Project, and so instead of getting a tattoo, I've drawn a picture:

Hope you like it. :)

edit: I forgot to add - I've written "your story is a work of art" for this one. Not a poem, just a little encouragement. :)

Hey, my friends! ;D
Today I have a story to share with you. A bit different to my usual drawings and stuff, but I thought I would put it up here and see what people think. Please critique if you think I could word it better, I would really appreciate the correction. :)
Hope you all have a beautiful night!💕

Spoiler
Yu sat with her back to the bars. As a prisoner in that same cell for three years, she was used to the rough, cold stone floor and the flaking rust that stained her uniform in streaks. She knew every lump in the mattress, every crinkle in her uniform, and every bolt and bar that held her in her cage, like an animal on display. Her whole world had been darkness for so long. The only light she knew was that of the small, barred window in the corner. A source of blessed warmth in summer, yet a harsh cold in winter.
It was winter.
A cold wind gusted, carrying the smell of coming rain and small motes of dust that speckled the sparse bed and chamber. Yu grimaced. The resulting mud would be a nuisance.
The wind, however, was the only freedom she had, and she revelled in it.
Yu stood up, knees cracking, and rubbed her back, feeling the bones underneath. She was thin; not from lack of food, but lack of freedom and joy in life.
“Hey, Yu,” the day guard entered, carrying a tray of food and smiling at the pun.
Lyra was one of the nicer ones, albeit her terrible sense of humour. Yu gave a small smile and took the tray gratefully, but did not answer. She never had. There was no reason to speak any more. If she did, she might tell them what she had done.
She could not tell them what she had done.
She could not.
Lyra turned and left, locking the three separate doors that led to a place she hadn’t been in years, a place she craved to go. Yet she would die here, lest she told them the truth.
But she could not tell the truth.
She. Could. Not.
Blanking her thoughts, Yu turned her attention to the lukewarm rice and began to eat slowly and deliberately. She wished for a release, something to take her mind off the years she could feel slipping away, like water through spread fingers. Time ticking by without her. She wondered if there was a God out there who would grant Yu her wish for companionship, one that had no need for speech. She prayed for a friend, as she had prayed every day for three years. She knew it was almost hopeless – yet a small hope is better than none.

Another strong gust of wind blew through the bars, stirring her tangled hair as she looked in despair to the solid concrete and thick bolts. Turned away from the sorry excuse for a window, she heard a sound and glanced back, surprised.
A small bird had landed at the bars, carried by the wind and rain. It gave a small cry and collapsed inside the cell, falling to the floor with barely a sound. Yu gasped and scrambled on hands and knees towards the small creature – the first she had seen since her imprisonment. Cradling the traumatised beast, she checked its wings and knew that one was broken. Its fragile bones were bent and shattered, and Yu felt an indescribable sense of grief for the poor animal as it lay there, cold and broken. Its tiny heart beat in her palm as she held it close, wrapping it in her long shirt in an attempt to keep it warm and dry. The bird, although awake, did not struggle and let Yu stroke it gently until it fell asleep, its heart beat slowing into a steady, light rhythm.

Yu stared at the beautiful embodiment of freedom that she held in her hands, wondering at its exquisite feathers, its resilience and its fragility.
And she knew.
She saw then that this was the friend she had been waiting for; a friend who would not speak, but sing a wordless song more beautiful than any phrase. A friend who could stay by her. Her little bit of a life she thought she’d lost.
Her innocence.
Yu opened her mouth and spoke.
“I think I’ll call you Mii, little one,” she whispered, her voice cracked and quiet from years of neglect. “Because it’s just Yu and Mii now.”
Yu stroked the little bird’s chest with a delicate finger, joy blossoming in her heart.
“You and me”.
And she smiled.

It's quite short and doesn't make much sense, but I wrote it to make me happy. I hope it does the same for you. :)

Hey poet!!

I LOVED your story!! Like absolutely loved it. Only bad thing about it was it didn't go for long enough and I wanted to keep reading ;) :p So thanks for posting it.
I'm also a really curious person.....and just wondering.....what did she do?? What was it she couldn't tell them?? Haha...I've read it over and over to try and see between the lines but I can't find any hints. Am I just totally dumb or did u mean to leave ur audience in total suspense?! haha  ;)

Aww, thanks so much guys, that's so sweet!!! ;D

The story was meant to leave you in suspense, and wondering what our poor, lonely protagonist had done. However, @LaraC (you're SO not dumb, I don't even know what I'm doing!!), if I was to expand on the story, I would make it so that she was either protecting someone else (so she herself was innocent of the crime she was imprisoned for) or had blocked out the memory of some obscure power she had because she had done something terrible that her mind couldn't cope with. You know, dramatic and exciting. :P

Just having some trouble uploading pics of stuff we did today - setting up a Deviantart, so I'll be with y'all soon! Love you all! :D

Hey, guys! Finally set up a Deviantart, called GoneRoguee! It hasn't got much on it (yet haha), but I'll update whenever I can on here and there. For now, here's a photo I took yesterday of a lovely kookaburra who posed just for me when I was walking with my family up near the Dandenong Ranges. :)

Spoiler

I also have a photo of the underside of ferns I walked under, and you can see the little spores and seeds held underneath the leaves:

Spoiler
(https://img00.deviantart.net/547f/i/2018/092/4/c/fern_by_goneroguee-dc7qo02.jpg)

And here's a photo my mother took of me and my dork of a brother walking into the forest (I don't know what he's doing with his arms...). The trees, called California Redwoods, have been growing there for hundreds of years and are ridiculously vast and beautiful. It was like walking through an enchanted forest where an elf might just pop out at any moment!

That's it for today. Thanks for all your support, AN fam! 💕

Hey all!

Okay, so it may/may not be a special person's birthday tomorrow (I was told to not do a shoutout so I'm going to make it a manhunt instead *laughs evilly*) and I happen to have a present for them. Sorry it's not the best - it scanned lighter than the actual drawing and I'm not very experienced with pencil drawings, but here's a lil baby giraffe for the birthday girl!  ;D

Hey my lovelies,

Here's another one, called Fledgling. I made it last year at a time when I felt alone, small and afraid of what lay before me. It can be challenging to step off the edge and make big decisions sometimes, so I drew a quick sketch (not very detailed at all!) of a little girl standing and looking out over a jagged chasm. Fun fact: she's based off of me. :)
Here's the little poem to go with it:
Spoiler
Still a fledgling
I stand
At the edge of the chasm
Alone
Still a child
I must make my own decision.
And here's the drawing. I hope some of you can relate!!💕

Thank you so much, Maya. That means a lot to me.
I'm just scanning a bunch of my works, so I'll probably be sharing quite a few over the next week. :)

Here's another I made last year when I got all Existential haha. It's called Nil Omne, which in Latin simply means "everything is nothing". Ashes to ashes, dust to dust. Everything on earth with eventually die and rot. It seems negative, but it's not, I promise. It's just an observation and a little drawing that helped to calm me when I was feeling really down. I'll do one and post it some time in the next week and we'll see how I do.

Aha! Hey, y'all. <3
Got my scanner working again, thank goodness. There was a moment there when I thought it was completely gone haha

I made this one last year (this is actually the first person I drew ever, so please excuse the mistakes in the anatomy and the water damage!!) to tell myself I can do what I want to, and I will not stop unless I have to. Here's the poem:
Spoiler
And so I dance
Above the storms
About the clouds
Above the rain
And I will not stop
Until I fall
.
And here's a person with wings:

Naw, that's okay. I'm pretty sure German Shepherds don't eat tortoises, so you're all g.

So hey guys! I have some photos for you today, if that's alright. The first one is a rainbow lorikeet, and the second is a grey kangaroo I snapped when we were bush-bashing a while ago. :)

There you go!
Now. Can I please rant about these freaking birds? Okay, so rainbow lorikeets are amazing and bright and funny. We have a big backyard and we live next to a reserve so these birds are in our yard basically 24/7. BUT THEY ARE SO LOUD. They make this screeching noise when they get annoyed so when they see my cat sitting in the window they just scream and scream and scream for hours and it's REALLY DIFFICULT TO DO MY WORK PRODUCTIVELY BECAUSE I GET SO PISSED AT THESE BIRDS.
I'm going to fork out on some noise-cancelling headphones soon, I swear.

Okay, thanks for listening to my rant. Hope you like my pictures!
Love you guys. 💕

Love you all.

edit: Whoops, I never gave a backstory! I was a little bit tired last night.
This is some of what I have begun doing at my psych's request every night before bed. She said that I need to make time for things I love to do, and drawing is one of them. So, I decided to start doing one piece of this at a time every night to eventually create a big mandala-ish pattern. Not once did I open a book or look at another work for inspiration - I decided I would pull every little line out of my own head.
I did this just before dropping off to sleep every night; one time I actually fell asleep on it, so a lot of mistakes were made and many of the mini-mandalas in here are uneven and a bit sloppy. But I'll keep practising, and hopefully, with practice, I can improve. Not just my skill in drawing circular abstracts, but in my mood and what I look forward to in life. :)

Found a watercolour of a... umm, red owl I did at the ripe old age of 14.
I was very proud of it at the time.
Not sure what to think anymore, but this is purely for external amusement. :)
since when are owls red??

I have two works, one I'm selling for $800 (a collection of skulls and bones I've decorated) and another I'm putting up for $400 (some rocks I've done designs on).
I doubt anyone will make an offer, but it's an achievement for me.
I'll try to get some photos up here at some point, but for now, I just can't wait!

P.S. Love you guys, you're so encouraging and honestly the best!💕💕

Oh dang, hey pals,
I just realised I've forgotten for months to actually show you my stuff - whoops! Here's a photo before I did the last two rocks. :)

Happy birthday, Nick!
I decided to draw you a cockapoo puppy because they're cute and I kind of just draw whatever comes to mind, so I started without a reference and had to actually figure out what I had begun drawing! Sorry for the photo as well, and also my cat stepped on it so I had to flatten it out under my maths books for half an hour before I could take a photo, and it still looks crinkled, but I tried. <3

P.S. Great choice - some would know I've been absolutely melting over puppies like this recently haha.

Incoming smol rant//

Guys, rule NUMERO UNO of artistry of any kind:
If a person is in the middle of a project, or has finished a project, and has not given you permission to even get close to their project, you stay away.

Went to work on it in period 4 and there was a GIANT MESS OF PINK AND WHITE GRAFFITI ALL OVER MY WORK IN THE VAGUE SHAPE OF A PERSON. It had dripped and was patchy and someone had completely covered my work in what looked like a two minute job of someone teaching themselves how to use spray paint. Not gonna lie, I cried a little bit. Turns out the girl who dropped out of doing it as a collaborated job with me A WEEK AGO decided she would waltz back in and try her own thing on my work.
After I told her I would do it myself and was planning something.
She tried covering up my work.
Without telling me anything.
And fucked it up completely.
I don't have pictures because I forgot my phone today.
I was so mad I couldn't think straight and I spent half an hour trying to fix it all up anyway, so you can't see the mess. Unless you look at the texture of the board, where the drips from her paint were. No, wait, my paint that she used without my permission.

The performance is tomorrow night and the plans I had for today went down the drain because I was just salvaging what I could from my background. Ran out of purple paint. Thankfully the new paints and nozzles I ordered came in, so I got to test the colours I chose and I'm happy with them. (I got a green shimmer paint, mmm yummy :3) But now the time I planned for doing the other parts of the background is gone, so I just have to work with my sad little restoration project. As long as no-one else decides to have a go on my artwork, it should be fine as is.

But I'm still very upset right now.  :'(

Tonight was so beautiful.
Our school has an art’s night of sorts every year, and so this was when I was doing my spray painting, in front of people. It was a little bit nerve-wracking but I managed to listen to the music and get in the zone, and just do my own thing. People would stand and watch me work. At one point, when I was nearly done, I hear this little voice behind me go, “wooooaaahhh!!!” I turned around and there was a little boy with glasses too big for his face standing there with his jaw dropped. He looked at me with big eyes and (very loudly) said, “This is the best picture I’ve ever SEEN!!!” before his mother hushed him and dragged him off somewhere.
Love little kids. Made my night haha.
Anyway, I put the school logo up so I’ve blotted that out in the pictures, but here’s the process. I fixed the background, then stenciled our school logo onto a light blue (“lemonade”) fine spray. Then this morning I came back to it and put in the arrows and the banner. We’re a Christian school, so of course I themed it in a Christian way. I just kind of doodled in layers and built it up, and wrote ‘Isaiah 64:8’ in the banner. It’s a verse in the Bible about us being the clay sculpted by God, so it fit in with the theme of a) our school and b) the arts night. Sorry that the final photo isn’t too clear – the sun had gone down by the time I finished. Still, it was amazing and so good. The trees are blossoming and we put fairy lights up everywhere, so the whole place was just stunning.
the process – I only took pictures of the before and after, so soz :S

Ooft, what a day. It's been pretty extreme (last SAC, le green squares, chickens...) so I went home and started to draft. I might just go through this whole process with you guys so you can see exactly what I did (what I'm trying to do, anyway)!

So, I mentioned time personified in my journal yesterday, just thinking. What would they be like? What would their features be? I started thinking about Alice Through the Looking Glass, and Time as a man in robes, a clock as his heart. That, to me, doesn't really seem like... time. Time is ever-flowing, Time is cold and impersonal, and blind to the things it could do if it slowed down, just for a moment. Time is bright and yet dark at the same time, the past, the present and the future all in one. My version of time is an ageless queen in iridescent robes, with white-blonde hair and her eyelids stitched shut. An almost Amazonian physique would echo her everlasting strength. Immortal. Untouchable. So, I decided to plan her head (because I don't have my own Copic markers and I want those for any robes haha)

Here's the rough sketch. I like her head-piece, but her eyebrow needs some work and I need to figure out what medium to use for her gentle skin tone. I'm thinking charcoal, she'd do well in monotone, like an 1800s film. Aged but ageless.
Spoiler
(https://i.imgur.com/u8bOSkF.jpg)

Not sure when I'll do her next step, but follow along if you want! This should be fun :D

edit: TL;DR I'm making a lady who's meant to personify time and yeah

Wow I'm posting a lot today :/ Sorry guys
Anyway, update on our lady here: I've done her lineart! This is where I've gone over her in fine-liner (Copics yeh boi <3) and I'll place this on a light box to trace her over with charcoal. The only problem is I'm out of white charcoal, so she might be waiting a while. I'm sort of annoyed because I messed up her nose, but she's meant to be a 3D-looking character, and so her flat profile looks a bit strange. Her tiara with the hourglass in it is going to look siiiic though. Anyway, here's our girl:

Okay, I'm doing this early because I don't want to forget (wow I'm such a bad person), but someone's birthday is this very weekend, and they like baby hippos, soooo... I've drawn a lil baby hippo! Hey, it's me again hahahaha

It's been a while. Sorry about that! But I think it's about time that I hopped back on the drawing horse and rode along for a while.

So, some crazy news - I am not going to university this year. Instead, I've decided to go with the things that make me happy and get me money and independence, including a real job (not just casual work at a fish and chip shop), plans to move out of home and an art internship. Yep, I'm now hanging out with a bunch of 30 year-old men with ADHD who enjoy Star Wars more than the average person and who can draw, like really, really well. And who draw for a living.

It's pretty awesome that they have taken me in, and I feel super blessed to be a part of the illustration and animation family. The only issue here is, I've been really ill and unable to go to the internship, and my teacher just had a baby. So... Setbacks have happened. However, I was given a few tips and books and things to use, and my teacher has told me to draw. Every single day. Consciously practicing and refining my technique and learning new things. So I've decided to pick this thread up again and see what I can do.

Today wasn't practice - I'm totally exhausted and my mind won't work properly if I try to work on my anatomical studies - but I have done a quick doodle and recorded it for y'all. So here's the first day of my (short and practically insignificant) efforts:

(sorry about the angle, my desk doesn't have a camera setup haha)

That's me signing off for the day. Don't hesitate to post on this thread with questions or art requests! I can't come up with daily ideas on my own and it'd be great to have community involvement in filling up my drawing journal.

Love you all! I'm gonna go sleep now haha ❤️💜💙💜❤️

Any chance some water-inspired artwork could be heading our way?

If you're stuck for an idea, how about something sky-based? :)

How about drawing a forest, but with some mythical animals and/or plants to switch things up a bit?

could be! Drawing water is actually quite difficult so I might give it a crack at some point! :)

Haha thanks, my room is so messy so I'm glad I managed to not record that bit D:

Ooh, could do. I've been thinking of experimenting with the Aurora Borealis for a little while.

oh yes! I might just basically end up plagiarising Patronuses but it's a good idea.

Thanks guys! I'm writing them all down as we speak.

Wow, an unexpected stumble from the Linguistics student  :P

I do indeed. It would be pretty damn amazing to illustrate a book or design for a company. It's less of a "check it out that's MY influence" but more of a "hey, I managed to successfully make people happy by conveying what they saught for". This is a personal fulfillment but it's also just constantly proving to myself that I can get out there and DO things haha. If I didn't need money I would never charge.

Day 2 already! Today I was feeling up for a little lesson, so I decided to share it with you guys. I'm currently learning about the "planes of the head" which is the theory of being able to create the form of a human head by putting together and manipulating basic shapes. I videoed my process for you guys and I think I'll continue to create videos of my work as I learn. Maybe not every day but certainly whenever I can.

I'm meant to be able to memorise these... Eeek! Wish me luck! I'll get to any suggestions in the next few days. :)

PS: I wear the onesie with zero shame.

Anyway, that's day 3 :) I don't know why I'm keeping track if this is gonna be going for like the rest of the year but there you go!

(ps: he was gonna be a dragon guy with slitted pupils and that would have made him look angry but then he now has rounded pupils and he just looks slightly confused to me now. Ergh I sort of hate putting this up but I guess it's accountability 😐

Hello all, it's me! You thought I was dead, didn't you? Nah it was just my sister's birthday yesterday and I had a huge headache and thus did not draw. However, today I'm at my internship and I was told to practice with idealistic female characters (eek!) sooo I did. I actually hate this style haha, it just seems wrong to me. But maybe I'm just jealous idk. Anyway I made another video so here it is:

I didn't record the whole process, only the finelining because I don't have a setup here and had to hold the camera with one hand while drawing with the other haha. Anyway enjoy, and I'll hopefully see you tomorrow 💕

Hey! You're correct, it is Hedwig-inspired haha. I asked blasonduo last night what bird I should use, he said owl, and technodisney was talking about HP. Mix them together and you get Hedwig.

This was a trial of a new program called Krita, which is basically like ATAR Notes for digital artists. It's very similar to PS (when it comes to drawing tools) but completely free which is AMAZING. I was playing around with brush engines, one of which was chalk-like. I layered it then merged the layers and faded the edges, and voila we have a vague night-sky background. This whole thing was basically an experiment so it's not top quality but I really enjoyed it. :)

Fiiiirrrrst vlog! I don't know why I did this to myself but I'm regretting it already!! :'D

I'm so sorry. Like so so sorry. Skip to 5:16 (yes I talk for 5 minutes how disgusting is that) if you just wanna see the time-lapse (which is also sad).

I'm so tired. This is my worst work to date by far and I'm really hating myself for it but I feel like I have to post it as my daily Doodle because I've already missed 2 days haha. I'll be redoing it, probably digitally another time. My hands were just really unsteady and what was in my head just didn't come out onto the page at all.

Sorry again  :-[

MAD shoutoutz  8)

Encouragement
I thought this was gr8.
Simply the bravery and initiative to film a vlog in the first place is admirable - I for one couldn't do such a thing.
While the fantasy forrest was perhaps not your best of works, I don't think it is deserving of your hatred - it's a pretty decent sketch (and that means something coming from me, an extremely skilled artist).
I also enjoyed your subtitles - they made me laugh and I think made the atmosphere of the whole vlog a bit more comfortable (if that makes any remote sense at all)

Plus more
It would be nice if there was more action scenes, and potentially a romantic subplot, so maybe try to incorporate that in the next one  ;D
seriously though, the start was a bit awkward (but nothing cringy I don't think), but as soon as you started talking about art and the asher exhibition, your confidence picked right up.
If there was one other thing that I would say to improve on, it is to not say sorry and apologize so much - I don't think you kicked anyones dog or stole someone's cookie, so I hardly think you need to apologize for anything.
Also, don't say your ugly, I don't think anyone here will agree with that

Hey friend,

always love your work - even when you aren't able to put 100% into it.

It's be nice if the trees were a bit more green, and I think for the setting a darker green would be more appropriate too ( feedback from a non-artist, so probs not too reliable).

The other thing that artwork was missing is a testudine. If you want a more specific idea a star tortoise would be cool even though it wouldn't match the scene.

I'd also like to see you draw a more Aussie-looking forest :)

AWWWW thank 💞

I know I shouldn't hate it, but the artist is always their own biggest critic and I can't look at it without seeing the flaws and frustrating myself. It gives me a warm feeling to know that I could (hopefully) bring you and others amusement, and I will continue to work on my self-confidence.

PS: romantic subplot? Challenge accepted

Hey, friend! Thanks for the feedback!

Ooft yeah this one was a half-hearted piece of donkey manure, and I definitely get your feedback. I think I'll redo it with your suggestions in mind, which were some of my main issues with the piece (so there you go!) the other main issue here would be the big tree right in the middle. That thing is unnecessary and blocks the view of a little stream I put through there. (in which a little testudine could sit)

No idea what I was thinking. But it's good to sometimes make mistakes or pieces you don't like to analyse them and make mental notes as to what NOT to do.

❤️❤️❤️

Hey all! I was off to the studio again today, this time with my Wacom Intuos Pro tablet, which we hooked up the a huge mac and played around with. I've never worked with a screen that big before and to be honest it was a luxury I'll never be able to come back from. The full view was such a blessing compared to my teeny weeny little laptop screen, which feels super cramped. Anyway, my teacher asked me what I struggle to draw today, and told me to write it down before picking out hands as the thing to work on for the day. So, lo and behold, I drew some studies of my own hand. (it'll be impossible for you to figure out if I'm left or right-handed)

yay for my ugly hand lol pls forgive me

I also began my Fortnightly Art Challenge entry. I'm going back on Thursday to continue that and also come up with a challenge. My teacher wants me to create a small comic or illustrated story of my own, and I hope to keep you all updated throughout the process. :)

This is certainly a common mistake, people just keep accidentally replacing the eggs with pasta sheets and the spinach with tomato sauce... Hopefully it's edible. :(

1. Ignore the bananas they're just there to annoy Caleb
2. You whisk the egg before you put it into the batter, then you whisk the batter until it's smooth. Or you can just think really hard about it and it'll all just happen.
3. You can alternatively use vegetable oil on the pan. I usually would but my mom likes really buttery pancakes and I surprised her with them.
4. Please wear safety goggles and a hazmat suit when handling a pan on the heat OK thx

Hi everyone...

So, I got sick again and also was just stupid and didn't try. Sorry. But I HAVE been working on some stuff! I promise! As proof, here's a little clip of what I was working on today:

It's not the best quality but I've been playing around with animation!! This is super awesome and I'm learning how to use timelines, onion (onyon) skins, keystones, fps, etc., and I think it's really cool. Last time I did anything remotely like this was claymation in about year 3 so I can't wait to refine my technique and do a real thing instead of the simple, rough white sketches.

Again, I'm sorry for not posting and will continue to work on things. Will try to update as much as I can!

Time for lil teeny weeny sticky stories!

This is panel one. Very weird, I don't know. But it was relaxing to do and I think that's what matters.

Hey guyz, it's definitely me Poet here, back with another banger of a drawing. I drew this one using a quill made from macaroni and ink made from the blood of my enemies.
Hope you love it like a cute and fluffy little dog.

I only know that wasn't me because I probably wouldn't have described my work as 'banger' nor shouted 'YEET AHOY' - Otherwise, uncanny resemblance. Please stop stealing my books and my identity.

Hey all! I was being pressured to post before but I was severely procrastinating, so why not hire someone else to be me for a while? Thanks fren meet me at 12 behind woolies
I ate dinner and I am now back to reclaim my art thread with a description of my thought process behind this one. If I fall asleep on the send button I'm sorry, it's been a long day which is a lie but I'm not taking it back

...
Literally just fell asleep for a few minutes, I refuse to believe I'm narcoleptic

OK, so I decided to change up my normal weird pattern obsession a little. Branch out. So I've begun drawing in the world of dreams, which is where I have decided our little people reside. These are the same little people from my sticky notes, but bigger. I don't know why I enjoy drawing them so much, they just charm me in their simplicity.

Anyway, in the original sticky note, the astronauts, if you will, have tiny little ropes protruding from their backs connecting them to a particular mandala, a bit like a planet. I thought it would be nice to zoom in a little and see what their "planets" look like. And I guess it's the planet of the mind. If you look at the little lines coming from our person's arms, you might be able to tell that they channel his heart beat. The heart and mind are interconnected, so I thought I'd show this in a simplified way.

As for the rest of it, that's free to interpretation. Sorry for not posting in so long! This was a 'big' project and I've been sick on and off quite a bit, so the motivation to use my fine motor skills can be difficult to get. Anyway, enjoy, love you all lots :)) 💙

Hello long absence yes yes I'm a #badmod and all that I know

I've been away/ill/busy for a long time and finding the motivation to do a project has been extremely difficult. But today; today is the day a new dawn arises. I've drawn something, a something small but mighty. And it will make a journey from simple to special very soon.

This is step one of a new piece of mine. I am dusting off my lino tools and digging into the world of printing after almost 2 years of neglect. I have to admit I'm a little excited to have the time and emotional readiness for this again, so I'm making the most of it while it lasts. Pls enjoy step one: the sketched plan.

I am VERY Excited to see this develop into final product!

(btw I don't think you deserve the hashtag '#badmod' - I think that should be exclusively reserved for a particular tortoise  ;))

Thanks fren! I'll try to keep documenting the steps haha.

Hi so the drawing was completed and so I transferred it to the lino by rubbing charcoal on the back of the page and tracing over it with a ball point pen. The idea there is that the pressure of the pen will transfer the drawing to the lino easily, and then I'll be able to rub away any excess charcoal without destroying the lines.

See? Lawd I'm so ✨ s m o r t ✨
Also have a video of me beginning the cutting process. It's slow and careful because I really want to be precise and do well on my first lino in years.
