VCE Health and Human Development: Answer a Question - Ask a Question
(inspired by Erutepa's Answer a Question - Ask a Question threads in the Science boards. The text below is almost a copy of those.)

The aim of this thread is to revise Health and Human Development through practicing answering (and asking) questions which is one of the best ways to study. Since HHD is wildly enjoyable and exciting, it also goes without saying that this thread is also here for you to have a bit of fun.

The thread will essentially be a question chain where a user answers the question that has been posted above them and then asks a question in the same post for another user to answer.

Everyone is encouraged to have a go at answering and asking a question whether or not you have a degree in Health, if you are currently studying it at school, are doing VCE HHD or any other state's version of Health, or if you are just interested in the subject broadly. If you think you know the answer, give it a crack!

Let's begin! :)

Answer: Each individual is different and while some may consider being healthy to be physically fit and having balance between all dimensions, someone else with a chronic disease may consider being healthy to be able to manage their condition and prevent the symptoms from having a large impact on their life.

Each individual is different... (I would probably define subjective in terms of health and wellbeing - e.g. health and wellbeing is subjective, which means that it is different for different people and is based on personal experiences, beliefs, feelings or opinions.
Question: Explain how peace can promote health and wellbeing
Possible Answer: When a country or community is experiencing peace, it is highly likely that there will be freedom conflict-related injury, disease or disability, promoting physical health and wellbeing.
Individuals are able to go about their daily activities in the absence of conflict as they do not have to worry about the danger of doing so. This results in having a sense of connection to the world (spiritual health and wellbeing).

Question: Jack is a 26 year old who broke his leg. Use Jack's illness to show interrelationships between physical and social health and wellbeing.
Answer: As Jack broke his leg, he cannot perform physical activity such as playing for his local sports team (physical H&W). As a result, of not playing sport with others, he cannot interact and talk with his friends from his sports club (social H&W). Due to not interacting with his network of friends, he may feel stressed from being left out. Such stress can reduce immune system function as the immune system's ability to fight off antigens is reduced (physcial H&W)

Answer: As Jack broke his leg, he cannot perform physical activity such as playing for his local sports team (physical H&W). As a result, of not playing sport with others, he cannot interact and talk with his friends from his sports club (social H&W). This ultimately decreases his energy levels from staying indoors (physical H&W)
Maybe specifically mention how each event impacts a dimension of health and wellbeing, for example if he broke his leg, he can’t participate in physical activity, leading to a decline in physical health and wellbeing
Question: Discuss one advantage and one disadvantage of self-assesed health status
Answer:Self-assessed health status takes into account all five dimensions of health, allowing for a more broad measure as compared to mortality or morbidity rates. However, a disadvantage is that due to the subjectivity of the health status, comparisons using the data cannot be accurately made, as each individual will perceive their health status to be different.

Question: Explain why life expectancy is measured at different stages of the lifespan instead of only from birth.
