How does study scores and students get separated from one another?
Ranking system based on the each students overall standardised score by taking into accounts their sacs/exam or folio if necessary.
The study score is a standerdised score on a scale from 0 to 50. It has a mean of 30 and a standard deviation of 7.
For someone to score a 50 their actual standerdised score on this scale is 49.50+ E.g. they could technically have a standerdised score of 49.7, 52, 57 but it all goes to a 50 either rounded up or truncated to 50.
Those who score 49 had a standerdised score on this scale between 48.50 and 49.49.
A 50 puts a student in the top 0.2% of the state.
A 49 puts a student in the top 0.3% of the state.
EDIT: may have interpreted the question a bit differently to PF but I 100% agree with them. There is a heap of luck that goes into it. Most students between the study scores of mid40s and a 50 have the same knowledge base and ability but external factors for the most part determine where they fall within those 2-3 hours on exam day. So someone who got a 50 could easily score a 45 on a different day and someone with a 45 could've had a 50.
