Help with solving exponential equations using logarithms

Think of it as a quadratic.
You would let 3^x = A
and thus 3^2x = A^2

As for the middle term - adding to a exponent is basically multiplying by the base.
E.g. 3^1 = 3, 3^(1+1) = 9 = 3 x 3

Hopefully this will be a good starting point for you.
