Title: specifiying text for my related (like the movie..., the novel,...)
Post by: clovvy on October 18, 2018, 06:41:27 pm
Hi, so I am using a manga for my mod A distinctively visual and my teachers said that it is fine...
Now the issue that I am having is in the HSC when I introduce the test should I say 'comic' or 'manga(japanese comic)' or 'shounen manga(japanese comics for young adults)'? btw the brackets are not mere translation, but I will write it down in case the markers don't understand

Hi!

I’d say go for one of the first two, just for the sake of saving time so you don’t have to write as much.

Best of luck for tomorrow!

Hey, clovvy!  :)

I agree with fantasticbeasts3! Another suggestion would perhaps be to use "Japanese comic" for introducing the text and then if you refer to it in the essay (such as "The novel explores...), you can just use "manga" since it'll be inferred by the marker  :D

Out of curiosity, what manga have you chosen for your related?  :o I'm actually filling the post HSC void with a bunch of shoujo and josei manga but want some recommendations  ;D

LOL why did you respond when HSC english is done ages ago hahaha... dw I have written 'manga' and specify what it is..... I used Akame ga Kill as one of my related text.... I don't really read shojou or josei tho but I know very few which I generally don't enjoy.... I would probably recommend citrus and the anime for that is also out so you may be interested (I quite like it  but hide it from people)...

I just realised the date in which you asked the question ::) Well at least this can be helpful for any of the new cohort kids coming in  ;D I'll have to give Citrus a shot then  8) My favourite English teacher was obsessed with Akame ga Kill so that recalled memories of my junior English days  ;D Thanks for the recommendation  :) :)

Oh lol how unexpected...  I couldn't picture an English teacher obsessed with mangas lol but yea it just happens to suit MOD A for Standard English for distinctively visual so that's why I pick it...  And a good match for Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon IMO
