James Cook University Medicine Application

Hi guys,

I'm in the process of filling out my application for James Cook Medicine but was a bit stumped with some of the questions. Hopefully someone can help me out  :)

1. "What activities (paid employment, work experience or voluntary work) have you undertaken, in addition to your studies, which indicate your motivation to study Medicine or another Health Professional degree at James Cook University?"

I have done some work experience for a week at a doctor's clinic but other than that all my voluntary work has been with organising Shave for a Cure, and volunteering at fun-runs. Should I include that or is that unnecessary because I'm not sure how to link it to wanting to study med? With work experience, should I describe what I did there i.e. sterilisation of equipment, observing patients and how I was encouraged by that. I did discover through patient interactions the lack of specialists in my local metro area and this did lead me to question the access received in rural areas. Should I mention that there or in a section on why I want to study rural medicine?

There's also a section on any additional information to include. Would anyone know if there are interested in specific medicine related courses or something or whether things like SRC, representative sport, public speaking, etc fit better there? Should I describe the impacts of doing these extra curriculars on me or just list?

Sorry for all these questions! But thank you to anyone who can answer them  :D
