Do you have a favourite subject? What do you want to do at uni? Oh yeah that would be difficult if the exams are an hour apart 😫
Hmm, probably Literature despite it being my most difficult subject. Psychology is a close second. The goal is Medicine at Monash!  :D

What's your favourite subject, J_Rho?

Who's keen for going back to school?

• What are your subjects for this year
• What are you most excited about
• What are you most nervous/not so keen about?

Yea surprisingly I am keen for school starting again, I just feel super unproductive over the holidays so school will get rid of that feeling.

My subjects are Chem, Bio, Methods, Further and English.
I am super excited about Chem and Bio. They interest me the most.
I am also excited about receiving the year 12 hoodies and getting the English exam over and done with  :P

I am a bit nervous about Methods, I really tried in this subject during yr 11 but just was performing really badly compared to others in my year level so . . . guess I gotta work more on this subject this year.
Also nervous about burning out during when exams come around, I know that happened this year  . . .

Welp good luck to everyone this year  :)

Yeah, I don't think I can imagine myself doing anything else. Also, it's a wide field so there's lots of options in terms of specialisation! This is really far ahead but I'm particularly interested in obstetrics! That would be sweet!  ;D

What interests you about Paramedicine?

That's so cool! Is there a particular reason you're interested in obstetrics? My interest in Paramedicine stems from my desire to help people, especially when they are at their most vulnerable - similar to why I'm volunteering with VICSES. I just think its an amazing thing to have the ability to help others and I absolutely hate the mundane-ness of doing the same thing every day which is why the somewhat unexpected and spontaneous nature of the role of a paramedic is so appealing.

What interests you most about chem and bio?

I love the problem-solving aspect of chem as well as how it's linked to theory. Chem feels more like a game/puzzle than a subject.

Bio well the first bit of Unit 3 is a bit 'mehh' but parts like immunity +biodeversity are really what interests me. But don't get me wrong currently I  find bio WAY harder than chem.  ???

That's great! Having different experiences every day will definitely make life less routine-like, especially when you need to make quick decisions and think on your feet in emergencies.

This might seem silly, but delivering babies seems really magical because you're bringing a new life into the world and who knows what that baby will grow up to become. All that potential in this tiny baby waiting to be recognised by the world.
But, all that speciality stuff is really faraway and I haven't committed to becoming an obstetrician. Paediatrics, neurosurgery and psychiatry are some of the other fields that appeal to me so as you can see, I'm all over the place.
I think I'm getting waaay ahead of myself right now and this seems so distant and unimaginable. I think I need to focus on getting into Monash first.  :P  Then, we can go from there.

That hit different, not silly at all.
Sounds like the words of a true obstetrician.

I agree with Ionic Doc! You sound really passionate about it, and I don't think many others our age could give such a wholesome and beautiful answer.
I think it's definitely good to have some kind of ide of what you wanna do even if it is wayyyy in the future

Just think, next summer holidays we won't have to worry about school!
What are you hoping to do after school? Are you doing chem as its a prereq to something or cause you enjoy it?
Exactly, it will be so nice not to worry about any homework for once in my life!
Well, I really want to go into an area where I would study infectious diseases. If I could work for WHO or the CDC, that would be a dream! I may end up in medical school, but it wouldn't be to become a doctor. So I guess I will either do a bachelor of science or pharmaceutical sciences and see where I go from there.
I love chem! It is my favorite subject ever, and its just a bonus that it is a major prerequisite.
Do you know where you want to do paramedcine?

Wow! Thats super awesome you want to do that! What sparked your interest in infectious diseases? I would love to do paramed at Monash, but I am also considering Paramed/Nursing at ACU

I'm not quite sure what sparked my interest. But when I was bored at home, I ended up watching a crap ton of documentaries on all sorts of deadly pathogens, especially the ones that happened throughout history. When this was covered in bio 3/4, it just accentuated my interest.
Those are quite a distance apart from each other, especially with monash being in frankston. Do you think you will chose a uni based on where you live, or the program?

Oh wow! Thats so cool, all those diseases in history are fascinating, its awesome you want to pursue it
I currently live in Gippsland, so wherever i got to uni I will have to move - I would love to go to Monash because I have family in Rosebud and a potential job in Somers and they are all in relative proximity to each others and I like the idea of staying in the areas I know, and I don't find much intrest in going to Ballarat.
What uni would you like to go to?
