Tea Enthusiasts Thread

Hey, everyone!

Thought I'd make a thread for all things tea-related! I became a huge tea enthusiast ever since I stopped drinking coffee three years ago and would love to spill some tea with a bunch of different prompts and discussion points here  ;D To get this thread kicked off, what are your favourite, go-to's and least favourite teas?

Favourite: Lady Grey. This was quite a recent discovery! I love Lady Grey's lightness and gentle aroma. I initially didn't find it anything special because I felt like it was Earl Grey's less intense counterpart but I actually now prefer it  :D It's great with biscuits too!

Go-to: Earl Grey. I drink a lot of Earl Grey tea and usually order it when I'm out because it's a safe option. I've had really bad Chamomile, Chai and English Breakfast teas when I have ordered them so I tend to avoid drinking them unless I know the place does it well.

Least favourite: Lemongrass and Ginger. I'm just not a fan of this. I understand that it has really good properties and is a healthier option to drink over some of the other teas out there but it definitely isn't my cup of tea.

Oooo yes I love me a tea thread. (or tea in general tbh) Too bad I just finished my mug of tea!

Current go-to: Extra strong English Brekky or Irish Brekky

Recent fave: Lady Grey

Tried twice and didn't really like much either time:  Russian Caravan. Bleh.

insanipi and I have quite similar tastes in tea.
Irish breakfast is my go to fave, another one I found semi-recently is morning sunshine from t2!

Dislike: herbal teas, tisanes, etc. I really wanted to like peppermint tea but it was nasty. Had a bad mouth feel lol (I also think part of the issue was it being hot and my brain going "no. mint should be cold. no likey"

That reminds me- I bought mum 'Morning Sunshine' a while ago and she still hasn't had more than 2 of them. I guess it's my tea now :D

Least favourite: Starbucks coffee, in terms of coffee itself, it's been weirdly watery and acidic when I've gotten it. Apart from the coffee itself, I'm just not into the weird sweet drinks though.
I'll agree here and say that Starbucks coffee is rather horrible, however if you want to derail this thread with other coffee opinions- there's a new topic button on this board that'll allow you to have such discussion about coffee too (without angering the people who enjoy a nice cup of tea). :)

Favourite: Irish or English Breakfast

Go-to: Boring but good black tea or Lemongrass and Ginger (The Madame Flavour one is actually really nice)

Least favourite: Chamomile - I've had nice ones but generally they're are all pretty yuckkk

Tea!

Favourite: Raspberry, Strawberry and Elderberry is amazing and it smells like cotton candy while brewing 🥰

Go-to: Chamomile with some honey and lemon if I feel like it! It's just super soothing and doesn't make me need to poop like milk-teas do. I don't like chamomile by itself but honey with it is super nice, especially if you have a cold or sore throat.

Least favourite: Licorice and chocolate teas. I got some as a present one year and it smells and tastes like someone gorged themselves on candy and vomited it back out into a cup. Disgusting.

Interesting! I haven't had The Madame Flavour one before but I might give it a shot to see if I can graduate Lemongrass and Ginger to a drinkable tea in my books  :D

This resonates so strongly with me. I've only tried one chocolate tea in my life and it was such a strange experience that I don't think I would go for it again. I do love a good hot chocolate so perhaps it's just better with milk ;D

Speaking of tea, how does everyone take normal black teas (such as the English/Irish ones)?

I usually take it with the teabag in, and a splash of milk.

Teabag in with a bit of soy milk and a tsp of sugar. Sometimes just black. Depends on my mood and the weather!

I have mine just black with maybe a spoon or two of sugar if I feel like it  ;D I also make a killer Earl Grey milk tea which I use full cream milk and condensed milk for  :) This is only a once-in-a-while treat though because it's so time-consuming to make  ::)

I'll drink my tea just by itself most the time. If I ever add anything it'll be a spoonful of honey.

Favourite:
Planinski čaj! It's a really nice tea made from sideritis. It tastes a bit like pepper, but in a good way. You can typically find it in most Balkan stores. Depending on where the tea has been imported from it could be using Cyrillic letters, in which case look out for something similar to планински чай.

Go-to Tea:
If I don't have the above, nothing beats a good Jasmine tea. Since it's really common I usually always have some in my house.

Least favourite tea:
Any kind of tea that has had milk put in it 🥛🔫

Not sure if anyone else watches The Try Guys but Zach's finally launched his tea business! I'm thinking of grabbing Zach's Breakfast and see how it tastes  :D Although I was initially a bit shocked about the prices, Zach's said that many of the shipping proceeds will go towards supporting charity as well as the small farms that the tea's ingredients are grown from which I think is worth the investment. Will provide a review here once I get a chance to try it!  ;D

I don't drink tea as much as I drink coffee these days, but probably still have 1-3 teas per day lol. Always just tea - no milk, no sugar etc. Lemon and ginger presently but usually English breakfast I think.
