Tbh I don't mind it so much. The person just wants their achievements to be celebrated and reassured of their successes when it crops up. And it doesn't do us a great disservice to acknowledge it - I don't think. Though, then again, it's probably not the best way to go about it, I'll concede to that. So that's probably where the mild annoyance comes from I guess

The assistant manager and I do this to our manager all the time.  We pretend to be talking together quietly about something and he comes in and we're like "no no don't tell him" and he spends the rest of the day trying to get it out of us.  Combine me and this 2IC and we are straight up evil hahaha.

He tries to do it back and we just go "meh didn't want to know anyway" and turn away and get on with our business completely not caring, and his response is even more indignant 😂
