Site Screwing Up

Hey!

As you've noticed, the site has been very weird today.

It went down for like 15 minutes at 10am, then came back up, and then at 2pm it went back down for an hour or so - but this time it's back up because we did stuff to it.

Basically, there's been no major changes to have triggered this - the last change to the site was Monday and it was just a minor change (adding some pixels to the padding of a page).

The past three days *have* actually been the three busiest days of the year (all in a row, woohoo!) - but our actual server isn't the issue. Our server is the best available - the same server that Netflix use - so what's actually causing the problem is some code creating errors - and when this code runs a lot of times, that's when the errors go "OHGODNO" and bad things happen.

This was happening with some 'forced redirect' code written a few years ago - that was causing the site to crash a few months ago. That got deleted.

In the months since, many, many, many lines of awkward code has been deleted and the site's been running faster than ever, and obviously no issues - but this morning just sort of 'happened'.

What we're doing at the moment is talking to Bulletproof (the people behind our servers/Amazing Web Services), our developer, and another consultant who's a specialist in this sort of niche area (busy forums, basically... lol).

We're sure it'll be fixed quickly, but for now, avoid writing huge posts, or if you do, just save them before posting them :)

Sorry about the awkward interruptions, but we're working hard on it!

Thanks everyone :)
