TSFX Physics 29th May, your thoughts?

How did you guys find it?

Oh and Geoff kept blaming Greg for so many things in the notes it wasn't funny anymore.

Meh, wasn't amazing or anything, but I guess I can't complain.

They skipped way too much of the more important concepts because they wasted too much time on the easy concepts. Like all those electronics problems he worked through, he didn't need to go through all of those ones, it would have been better if he spent more time on harder questions.

The motion section got barely covered. He really didn't need to go on so long about deceleration and his other rambles. I guess he did make his point about over complicating pretty clear through that deceleration bit though.

But I would have preferred it if he could have talked about energy, Hookes law, momentum etc.

EDIT: That post seemed fairly negative, Geoff was a pretty interesting lecturer to listen to, the others weren't bad either. It was impressive how Geoff seems to have memorised every exam question and can repeat them off the top of his head.

I was shattered they didnt go over momentum and such like. Geoff was good but he spent way too much time on the basics.

I guess I could keep going on about how it could have been better, but at least they did provide us with those notes, there's gotta be something useful in there somewhere. If I'll go to TSFX again, I don't know if its really worth the cost. Maybe we can organise a small list of items that they can improve on and send it to them?

The only other lecture I've been to is the KLD/UMEP Melbourne Uni ones, I thought the physics one for that was pretty fantastic. It was only 90 minutes and purely focussed on exam technique.

What did they do regarding the detailed studies? Like, how did they split you guys up properly, etc?

They gave the detailed study booklets and then we went to separate theatres.

Nah, I was going to sit with them, but then it would have been pretty rowdy, so we split into two groups (anyways Geoff gave it to me in the summer school once for knowing too many pythagorean triads...). I was in the right seating area (from our view, not the lecturers'), about four rows from the front. A decent spot for a lecture.
