I got B+, A+ and A+ and got an 39. Is this normal or was I borderline of a 40? I'm perfectly happy with my score its just I was so close to a 40 which was my dream score.

I wouldn't say it is "normal" but it is definitely possible. The B+ definitely hurt you a bit and your exam A+ was probably a low A+. Some people get A+ A+ A+ 38.

Glad you are happy with your score :)

Those grades are from VCAA so they've been calculated using ranks, they're not raw sac marks.

adding onto what PF said the grades given by VCAA supersede sac ranks in terms of predicting study score.

Just as sac ranks are more important than sac marks.

You'll get them with your study score at the end of the year because they're calculated by using your rank + cohorts exam performance.

To get a high score in biology you do need relatively high marks to your cohort in sacs, I was either rank 1 or 2 throughout the year, but in the exam you need to score highly to get in the 40+ range.
an A+ A+ A+ and then also A+ could correlate anywhere between a 40-50 study score.
Bio: 50
Further: 49
