Hi guys.

I would just like everyones thoughts on what marks would be needed to be achieved in year 10 5.3 final exam to join year 11 MX1 and cope with the content.

Hey there,

Whilst I agree with the premise of determining whether you should undertake specific subjects (especially extension subjects) on the basis of your results, whether it be in Y9 or Y10, I think it's important to consider whether you have a genuine adoration for such a subject like mathematics. For maths extension, it is an expectation that you really enjoy mathematics and you are very comfortable with all forms of math that have been tested up until y10. However, if you're doing it merely for scaling, then I don't think it's an amazing decision.

However, to answer your question directly, I would say 85%+. It is pretty difficult to provide an accurate numerical value that will somehow ipso facto give you a guideline as to whether you should undertake ext1 maths, but if I had to, that would be it.

Hope this helps :)
