Doing well in Maths requires solid foundations and good usage of CAS (I recommend getting familiar with the asinine keyboard if you have the black cas), and consistent work. There's no other way to it imo haha, but just keep in mind 1/2 is much harder than 3/4 so don't get discouraged

Also I forgot about this journal lol not bad been 2 months, goddamn VCE is finally over so much freedom. Had a drink and karaoke sesh last night with mates, too good (they got 99s fml). My results in my sig, 95.90 ay not as high as I wanted but not even bad at all, if it gets me into my course I'll take it. Honest thoughts are that I feel robbed for English, 35, but to be fair my sac ranking was garbage (near the bottom of class).

Honestly VCE was a scam this year. I found Methods Exam 1 and Specialist Exam 2 to be the most fucked up things to be written in the history of VCE Mathematics, but that's what it is. I would've loved 45+ Methods and 40+ Spec at least but either way doesn't matter, 38 Specialist was all I needed. To be honest, right after the exams I was incredibly sad, but after talking to a bunch of people (including this guy with the BIGGGESSSTTTT brain who deserved 50 maths but tanked and got 44 methods 40 spesh) me and them have reached the consensus that VCE Mathematics really isn't an indicator of your Maths skills (it is to an extent, but it really doesn't matter). Uni Maths is also very different, in that it focuses more on the theory aspect as well (history of maths, proofing) rather than plugging random numbers into formulas without knowing exactly what you're doing. I'm fine now, but jesus man, whatever 41 methods and 38 spec lmao

Accounting was SO damn easy, me and the entire Year 12 cohort have massive regrets not even putting in the work for it (easy 40+ with effort). The English exam was also much easier than previous years, but my god was it marked harshly. Someone was projecting 45+, 45+ and another 48+ and they both got 40, 41 and 44 respectively, YIKES. On another note, 2 of my friends got 48 and someone ik got a 50. Good FUCKIN game if you're reading this lmao

I actually also pulled through with a 34 in Chem. I actually tried in the few weeks leading up to exam, and from my first practise exam that yielded 40/120 (LOLLLL) I improved to like a 80/120. My honest opinion is that it's such an easy subject to do well in, provided you put in consistent work and the effort to understand everything. On another note, the exam this year was apparently hard and incredibly long, with someone that was projecting 47+ getting 40, and several others who did well only getting 40. I do know of 3 50s from our cohort though.

Now that I'm done with VCE, just some general thoughts on my Uni courses. I had originally planned to go UoM to study BSci and double major in Statistics and Computer (more of Data) Science. I'd chosen this because I love maths right, and UoM has a pretty good standing with its Mathematics course, everyone saying it's good. However, I just received a scholarship from Monash, so my plans for the next 4 years have pretty much been torn apart, yikes. I'm planning on undertaking BSci + BCompSc double degree at Monash now, but I'm really not sure about the Mathematics at Monash. I'm going to the 1-5 thing they're having today (ask about courses and such) to enquire about it, so it'll decide for me. Also an important factor to add is that I live around 10 minutes away from Monash while I live like 30-40 minutes from UoM by public transport, and that Monash is relatively cheaper. Man, I'm just waiting for Access Melbourne scholarship if it does come, or otherwise I'll probably just go Monash, gang.

My preferences are:
  • Medicine (yeah, no, but maybe SEAS can push my 95.9 a bit higher)
  • Monash - Science / Computer Science (new plan)
  • UoM - Science (original plan)
  • UoM - Commerce (very old plan of actuarial)
  • UoM - Biomedicine (very very old plan of idk what I was even doing plan)

That's pretty much all I have to say, I'm glad this shit is over LMAOOO. Now I can upgrade to being a jaffy in peace and do what I want, peace out ;D been a hectic month nearly losing my sanity, now I'll go fully insane during Uni. If you have any questions about anything chuck me a PM !!

Congrats with finishing VCE (and the awesome ATAR)!!! No more days of public transport to school lmao
Good luck for uni! Even though it's hectic it will hopefully be more enjoyable than VCE
