Most Useful Biology Resources?

Looking through other people's tips for Biology 3/4 made me realize that there are so many resources out there! :P I ended up buying A+ notes because it was the cheapest and included questions but I was wondering what other people bought... I guess I made this poll for future students as I spent a majority of the Term 1 writing notes (that I don't even use now) and wanted another reference point besides my textbook.

Also... I'm not sure if I'm even allowed to post this so if this violates a rule here I'm really sorry and I'll try to figure out how to delete it write away!  :o

Totally okay to post this here! (You can't delete your own posts when they're the first in a thread anyway haha)

I didn't use a lot of extra resources when I did bio - but I did get heaps of notes from my teacher. You're right that there are heaps of resources, not just company notes though - there are heaps of free resources for bio too!

Douchy's podcasts were really great for bio! They are free, and a good way to revise or learn ahead!
I also sometimes borrowed checkpoints from the library and did some questions, but didn't use it too much.

Our school has an Edrolo subscription so I watched and rewatched many of Douchy's explanations. They were really great for getting ahead at the start of the year and helpful come exam time. I use the ATARNotes summary which is good revision right before an assessment but for me, I've found it easiest to learn by making my own summary notes on each dot point of the study design, as well as summarising each video and section of the textbook. Gave me major hand cramps but certainly helped me to remember the content.

Specifically to most notes, they're just there to help you understand topics. Its also good to either way write your own notes so you know you know what you need to know, ya know?
also AN has topic tests as well. I love em. Practice exams are also good but before SACs I need topic tests and AN delivers.

The other things that I've been reading through recently are the articles here, which are written by past students and super helpful, although not technically content resources.

GTAC has a lot of great resources, interactives, and online learning courses, all aligned with the VCE study design. It's free to sign up as a student. https://gtac.edu.au

When I did biology I listened to Douchy’s podcast. Anywhere, anytime. On the bus, in the car, while studying bio, when I was bored. It really helped and he’s amazing at explaining difficult concepts. Highly highly recommend!

I know that Khan academy also has some biology videos, but I have no idea if they are any good!

They can be useful, the problem with them though is that they don’t follow the study design so if you’re not careful you’ll end up learning lots of unnecessary info.

Thanks, PhoenixxFire!! That's actually really annoying... Are they meant to be used for VCE students or are they just a general resource?
