I've had an up and down relationships with AN :,). I sort of found it, lost it , and then  found it again =)

I first used AN for resources and then I sort of forgot about it. I used IRC (internet relay chat) for AN for a while

While I was at uni, I discovered these posters  and saw these lecturers and remembered it was AN! I hopped back on the forums (after resetting my password HAHA) and remembered that I had old resources, so I decided to start writing stuff!

I made like 3 posts from 2013 to 2015, and then that went up to 551 in a few years ^^.

My story's a little like E6P's if I remember correctly...

I think I was in one of my late night mindless strolls across the internet back in Year 11. Pretty sure I was searching Google for answers to some Psych stuff, which was my U3/4 when I was in Year 11. After a few searches, I curiously found this website that just kept popping up - ATAR Notes - in the URL. Found some old posts dated around 2008-2011 of just random academic materials. In November of my Year 11 year, I made an account to access more resources and then forgot about this forum.

Half a year later, I'd internet-strolled back to the ATAR calculator and reconnected to the forum from there. I found that account I'd made (which was this one) again and started to post instead. Decided to check in for more help and offer help about once a month, but it eventually became more regular to once a week. It was primarily focused on chemistry, being the subject I needed the most help in. (Side note: I now hold a minor in chemistry.) Ever since, I've been on regularly  for about 3.5 years.

To put how long I've been here into perspective, people in 2014 were opting to be temporarily banned by mods so they wouldn't see the exam discussions. I'd been regularly posting probably 4-5 months by then.

It feels surreal to think that I encountered this forum purely out of boredom and mild stress.

That makes three of us!

Honestly, I actually have no memory of how I really found AN. I think it might have been searching around in year 10 for VCE resources, but not too sure.

At least 4,  hydroxyl is a Kwonger too.

Which reminds me that the only reason I knew about the lectures in year 11 was people talking about it in the KLD fb groups.

Maybe that should be part of the social media strategy :P

I think I first heard of it when someone at school told me you could download free notes from there, and during year 12 I occasionally stumbled on those big guides and explanation posts on the forums through google.  One day a couple of weeks after I finished my last exam, it suddenly occurred to me that I could write some guides like those too!  So I joined and posted a bunch of guide-y posts and gradually joined in a few different threads, and started posting more and more regularly - and become a mod four months later and was tied to AN for good haha.

Fun fact: I was previously a Kwonger myself, but I turned to the Monash side.

When I was in year10,I  was on my math class,I just searched a couple of math questions on Google and found this website, and then I download this app from App Store, this happened in the first half of 2016, and then occasionally,in 2017 ,I found that  this app is not on App Store anymore and just felt very lucky  that I had already downloaded. At first ,I used rarely and did not even register an account but just look at some of the posts .I frequently used this forum and registered an account when I was near my spech exam and I realized I should give myself a chance to communicate with others but not only staying quiet, then I officially start my journey of firstly using an online English forum.

Funnily enough my dad came across AN when I was in year 9. He asked me whether it would be of any use (for a student in year 9), and I almost immediately doubted this possibility. But as soon as I started to traverse the site, I was amazed by the breadth of the forums and the incredible quality of resources. And I suppose the rest is a fantastic history....... :D

Jeez, I can't even really remember the first time I found it.. but I do recall I was in a PE class and one of my friends had a really old study guide for it. Prompted me to get one for myself and have a look at what ATAR Notes actually offered :)

I found out about ATAR Notes because Jamon wrote a legal studies guide, and then it appeared on my Facebook newsfeed! From memory, Jamon actually shared it himself, not the AN page!

I didn't even blink at my first encounter. I was complaining to my friend about the lack of drama and geography resources and weather I should buy some person's notes for $20, she mentioned ATAR Notes because she thought I was about to be ripped off. I went to the shop section and couldn't find anything, returning to the conversation with the thought there was nothing there for me.

*flash forward*

I was on Facebook and found an ad for free lectures so I signed my same above friend and I up for English and bio, then booked myself in for genny maths.
They introduced the forum at the start of each lecture but still, didn't pay it much notice. At some point later it did cross my mind so I searched it up out of curiosity and before you know it, BAM, potatohater is on the stage.

Short answer: the lectures
HSC 2017: Advanced English [85] General Maths [92] Biology [96] Geography [92] Drama [86]

2018: Bachelor of Arts and Advanced Studies at University of Sydney

-- need a tutor for any of the subjects listed above?? I reckon I'm the girl! Just message me on ATAR notes or here--

I found it through my Careers Advisor! She sent out an email to my whole Year level directing us to Eventbrite to go to the lectures, and that's how I discovered it! Also, my cousin did tutoring with Tutesmart so she also got me onto it before I signed up for said lectures!

I know right? My school's good a pretty good career's advisor - we're very lucky because I've heard the horror stories about other advisor's who aren't so in with it!
