A VCE physics student will not get that at all. That's maths, not VCE physics.
Of course - but most VCE Physics students also do Methods - which will allow them to understand that - apart from actually performing the integration, they'll pretty much conceptually understand what it means. There are also many students of VCE Physics who do Specialist Maths - who would be able to do it all by themselves.
Physics is, essentially, grounded in mathematics and one of the issues with VCE is that they've dumbed down the maths in Physics (I know you agree) - thus, throughout my book, I've tried to introduce mathematical detailed explanations wherever I can because I think that students doing Maths would understand the concepts a lot better than rote learning (which is what VCE Physics seems to have become).
