2 3/4 subjects in year 11 or 1?

Hey,

I'm in year 10 this year and am considering subject choices for year 11 and 12.

I am doing EI 3/4 this year.

Next year, I was hoping to do bio 3/4 and busman 3/4 (without 1/2), along with chem, English, further and methods.

Year 12 just the 1/2s in year 11.

Was just wanting to know if anybody recommends doing 2 3/4 subjects in year 11 (especially this combo). Does anyone have any experience doing bio and busman, and are willing to share their thoughts?

I think it's a good idea, especially if you are doing one 3/4 already. This way, you are essentially dividing your subject load over three years. You only need six subjects to contribute to your aggregate + therefore your ATAR (or you could do seven and see where that goes).

Doing a bunch of 3/4's together is quite difficult in itself, so I think if you're keen and willing then it is worth it in the long run.

Yeah definitely do 2 3/4 subjects in year 11 if possible.

Worst case scenario you don't do as well has you had hoped and you can still repeat one of them in year 12. (although hopefully you don't have to :D)

You should definitely do 2 3/4 subjects in year 11 since you have already got experience with doing a 3/4 subject and it takes stress off year 12. I kinda wish I did 2 3/4s in year 11.

Just to reiterate the above, I'd highly recommend you complete two 3/4's in year 11. I'm extraordinarily happy I did two 3/4's in year 11, it made year 12 a hell of a lot easier, so I'd definitely suggest you do two!

I can also say that you're fine to pick up units 3/4 Business (with the new study design) without 1/2, so that shouldn't be an issue :)

I can't help but agree with the above. If I had my time again, I'd be doing two 3/4s in Year 11.

Regarding the actual subjects, both Bio and BusMan are content-heavy. Is that a good thing or a bad thing? I'd probably suggest good, because it means you have a little more time to devote to learning definitions and concepts and the like. I think it's a really good idea on the whole. :)

I did bio 3/4 in year 11, and my friend did busman 3/4 in year 11 (along with chinese 3/4)
Both bio and busman are quite content heavy, and I wouldn't recommend doing either in year 12, as they take up a lot of time. Also, I believe both subjects are fairly easy to pick up without 1/2. Bio was my 6th subject, and I didn't put as much time into it as I should have, and I put far more effort into subjects I was better at in year 12 - my 5th subject had a scaled score of over 44 :P
If you're willing to put in the time and effort into both bio and busman, as well as not neglect your 1/2s, then go for it! I think it's a good idea getting some subjects out of the way, especially with those subjects as there is hardly any advantage, perhaps even a slight disadvantage (due to not as much time) doing them in year 12. Keep in mind it is a lot of work, as you'll have four 1/2 subjects you'll have to keep on top of (do not neglect these) as well as two 3/4 subjects which will each require a lot of time and effort. But if you're willing to put the effort into memorising and learning both of those subjects and are willing to work hard, a couple good scores before year 12 can ease off the pressure.
Whatever you choose, good luck! :D

I think it's definitely a good idea - I'm currently doing two 3/4 subjects (although one of them is VET so it's not quite as difficult) and especially considering your subject load it'll be good to have the extra time doing a second 3/4 in year 11 will give you.

I agree with everyone here. Doing 2 3/4 subjects in year 11 really took a lot of load off in year 12 so I can now focus on my 4 subjects, especially with English!! It may be more overwhelming and stressful than having just one subject, but I assure you it's definitely worth it in the end :D
