Can you do arts at melb and transfer to dentistry?

Hey ppl,
Just wondering if it’s possible to undertake an arts degree and transfer to dentistry of veterinary science.
I haven’t done Methods but I’m aware there is a bridging course which can allow me to do a bachelor of science.
So what would be the better option?
Take the arts degree and transfer to dentistry or vet science or do the bachelor of science and transfer?
Will undertaking the science degree give me better chances?

Thanks 😊

Just a little note on language used. There is no such thing as "transferring" to a post-grad course such as dentistry. You complete your undergraduate degree then apply for post-grad. Or you apply directly for a graduate degree package where it includes both and undergrad and post-grad degreee.

My understanding for dent at Melbourne any undergraduate degree is fine. However, you need to complete 3 prerequisite subjects in physiology, anatomy and biochemistry which would be much easier to find a sequence and complete within a science degree rather than an arts degree. Also, you would need to undertake the GAMSAT.

Gotcha, so you would ultimately say, it’s better to the bachelor of science even though I’ll need to do the bridging course for methods as I am not doing Methods 3/4?

Not exactly (people have done Arts before and then done dent). However, Science would definitely be a more straightforward pathway imo even with the bridging course.

When you say veterinary science, do you mean an undergraduate course (eg. bachelor of veterinary bioscience) or Doctor of Veterinary Medicine?

For DVM, you won't be able to get in with an arts degree, unfortunately, as they only accept relevant science degrees.

VCE: Literature [50] Methods [50] Further [48] Chemistry [40] Biology [33]
2022: Bachelor of Science (Mathematical Economics) @ ANU

Yes, there is guaranteed entry into DVM which you can apply through VTAC.

So cool!
But definitely know I’m not getting a perfect score haha, gotta just take the slightly longer path but I’m cool with that :)

You don't need a perfect score. 98.50 gets you a CSP for Bachelor of Science/Doctor of Veterinary Medicine.

but anyway the longer pathway is not much different so it really doesn't matter which path you take.
